Cofresi Beach

We stayed at the Hacienda Resort, and more specifically the Hacienda Garden, 20 mins. from the airport on Cofresi Beach.
The resort shares the beach with Sun Villas, and it's also open to the public.
Four types of accomodation offered: Garden, Suites, Tropical & Villas del Mar, at escalating cost. Our garden room was essentially bungalow-style accomodation with King bed, tv, shower etc. Also a nice little patio with french doors.
Maintenance & upkeep was ok...
Restaurants to choose from:
Garden: nice for breakfast
Beach bar: good for lunch
Italian: very good, need to book
Chinese: Didn't go, too close to noisy bar
Blue Marlin: Excellent, need to pay extra
Taxi's from the airport

Fixed taxi rates are listed on a big sign just outside the airport terminal. Return rates are also shown, and should be about a $10 or more discount vs. seperate bookings.
Single from the airport to Cofresi beach was about $25, and return $40 excluding tip.
Watch out for the guys who try and show you where the taxi's are, they also expect some money.
Ocean World

Ocean World is an aquarium on Cofresi Beach that specializes in animal shows and "swim with encounters" (at an extra very expensive charge) with animals. The overall displays are nice and one really neat feature is a reef exhibit snorkel tank wherein you can snorkel with reef fish which is included in the basic admission. I got free tickets from my hotel, normally admission is $50 which is kind of steep for what you get. It's a nice facility but only has half the displays of a Sea World. Beyond that, it's a nice place to spend 3-4 hours.

URGENT - COSTA DORADA VACATION

Hello All,
My husband and I are planning a trip to the Dominican Republic this coming weekend (Nov 20 - 27, 2004). Does anyone know how far the Costa Dorada/Playa Dorada are is from Costambar/Cofresi Beach? I would really appreciate any input. Thanks to All.

We were at Cofresi Beach (hotel was EMI Sun Village_.) We took a car ride to Playa Dorada and it was about a 25 minute drive.
Hey, ask a question on this website. Go to bulletin boards. They probably have any DR question you want. They also have hotel reviews, Dominican tips and so much more. If you want to email with questions about general DR, go ahead.
