I stayed here in Jan/Feb 2001 and remember pretty much still.... The hotel is "the dream come true" of PierGiorgio, an italian entrepreneur who named his hotel after himself which is very cool because it's no more fun to have word combinations of "International, Sosua, Plaza, Resort, Spa and so on" as part of hotel names. It is built in Victorian style, has very nice rooms, marble floors and gets to be a little kitschy with all the playfull little details and its overall style. This is of course not a con, I'm sure most women will love this place and some guys too..... Anyway, there ARE two cons that I have to mention: Obviously PierGiorgio couldn't buy all the land he needed, for whatever reason, maybe the neighbors.... Anyway, this resulted in (looking towards the ocean) that the whole right wing of the hotel is practically glued to the neighbors lot overlooking their garden from really close... and the pool area does not come up to the class PierGiorgio probably intended for his hotel.... Otherwise everything was just fine and nice.......
Unique Quality: PierGiorgios hotel is actually built on top of a cliff, with dramatic waves pounding on the rocks below.... Wasn't PierGiorgio worried about the erosion ?? ( lol...)... Nice views from different angles, cute little alcoves built beyond the cliff, almost like floating above the ocean where you can have have romantic candle light dinners, superb cuisine, nice location and not too far walking distance to the action scenes.
There is something special about this hotel that I don't quite know how to put in words.... I hope , you'll understand anyway what I'm trying to say....: PierGiorgios' hotel is very pretentious, even overly pretentious but at the same time it's not pretentious at all.... Did you get it...? If not, book a holiday there and at the end you will understand my "pretentious" statement....
Directions: hmmm, drive or walk down Calle Pedro Clisante all the way to Sosua Bay Hotel, follow the road curving to the right, all the way to the end and than turn left....
