A beautiful and relaxing holiday

I stayed at the Playa Colibri for two weeks in February 2011. A very clean hotel with beautiful suites landscaping, just metres away from one of the best stretches of beach you could hope to find. The water is clean and calm along that coast and the beaches excellent for swimming, sunbathing and taking long leisurely walks. Clean, calm and good for children too. The suites are equipped with a basic kitchen so I was able to have breakfast and coffee on my spacious balcony. Excellent fruit and breakfast essentials are available in the town centre that is a perfect twenty walk away. Take a motoconcho back if you're too loaded with groceries and don't feel like walking. There are lots of excellent lunch and dinner options close by an in town. Staff are super helpful: they found a good whale watching expedition for me and also arranged for a Spanish tutor! One small thing: much of the road is bumpy and unpaved, and about a 50 metre stretch is completely dark. As a single female pedestrian, I did get a little nervous. But I always travel with a small flashlight which helped with the bumps on the road and there was no other danger. Highly recommended.

Unique Quality: Great view, idyllic setting, helpful staff, clean and well maintained.

Go there once, and you'll be back

I have stayed at Playa Colibri on several occasions and simply cannot stay away anymore. The place is beautifull, it has 45 apartment in different sizes, so it can accomodate from 1 upto 6 people (studio to villa). Most of them have a beach view and all of them have a kitchen, satelite television, internet connection, and what you don't find, they will get for you (the staff is extremely friendly and helpful). Their prices are very reasonable, depending on the season. It is a great place to meet other people, I have made lots of friends there, people from all over the world. The town is a 15 minute walk away, but that is only for the better, because at night it is very quiet, not like in Las Terrenas itself, where there are open air disco's and restaurants, great for going dancing, but awfaul if you are trying to sleep. The hotel is run by a european couple and they will do everything possible to give your stay a personal touch. There is also a very good restaurant, with indoor (well, nothing is indoor really) seating and seating on the beach. They have a nice pool, set in a lush tropical garden, open 24/7. I highly recommend this location and hotel.

Unique Quality: The unique quality of Hotel Playa Colibri is the service and location. They have built the hotel on one of the most beautiful, sandy beaches of the island, but all in style with the local architcture, not forgetting all the western comforts (i.e. every apartment has a bidet). The staff is well trained, the hotel manager is always there to lend a helping hand. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met, professional, but relaxed. Another thing that makes this hotel unique is the fact that it's suitable for singles, couples and groups, without getting in each others way.

An excellent choice

by Cupcakje about Hotel Residence Playa Colibri

Staff is very friendly and helpful, I booked with them on the net and had no problems what so ever. My apartment was on the second floor with a view of the ocean and pool. I had high speed internet access, a fully equiped kitchen, bathroom with good shower and storage, and a lovely bacony. I met people from all over the world, there were both families as couples as singles. I highly recommend this hotel. From your room you can hear the wind rustling in the coconut trees and the waves caressing the spectacular beach in front. All rooms are beautiful, well maintained and clean. They have 45 apartments in different sizes, suitable for singles, families and groups, and organize activities on request, including fishing, catamaran tours, and excursions. A diving school is nearby, as well as many restaurants, plus a very good restaurant right on the premises.
