Hotel Residence Playa Colibri: Go there once, and you'll be back

    I have stayed at Playa Colibri on several occasions and simply cannot stay away anymore. The place is beautifull, it has 45 apartment in different sizes, so it can accomodate from 1 upto 6 people (studio to villa). Most of them have a beach view and all of them have a kitchen, satelite television, internet connection, and what you don't find, they will get for you (the staff is extremely friendly and helpful). Their prices are very reasonable, depending on the season. It is a great place to meet other people, I have made lots of friends there, people from all over the world. The town is a 15 minute walk away, but that is only for the better, because at night it is very quiet, not like in Las Terrenas itself, where there are open air disco's and restaurants, great for going dancing, but awfaul if you are trying to sleep. The hotel is run by a european couple and they will do everything possible to give your stay a personal touch. There is also a very good restaurant, with indoor (well, nothing is indoor really) seating and seating on the beach. They have a nice pool, set in a lush tropical garden, open 24/7. I highly recommend this location and hotel.

    The unique quality of Hotel Playa Colibri is the service and location. They have built the hotel on one of the most beautiful, sandy beaches of the island, but all in style with the local architcture, not forgetting all the western comforts (i.e. every apartment has a bidet). The staff is well trained, the hotel manager is always there to lend a helping hand. She is one of the sweetest people I have ever met, professional, but relaxed. Another thing that makes this hotel unique is the fact that it's suitable for singles, couples and groups, without getting in each others way.

    Excellent location: in the heart of Las Terrenas and just behind the oceanfront Paseo (promenade) and shopping mall

    They offer fully-furnished apartments, nicely decorated, new and clean, facing a well kept garden and pool area. As we were 3 of us, we stayed in a duplex apartment (combined living room-bedroom with adjoining kitchenette, balcony, bath an additional bedroom loft). It was about 100 USD per nigh.

    The best of all was to be so close to the sea and to the nightlife, but in a quiet area.

    • horrible. all villas are subject to different inconvenience sources, specially villas 1 and 2, 11 and 12 that are on a heavy trafic road. there are no windows and they're really noisy. more, the german manager is awful, she is really unfriendly and has strong orders from mafiosi style italian owner to make you pay more than arranged. Beware! rates are show in dollars but when it comes to pay the bill, it has to be arranged in local domincan pesos and the german cow has incredible change rate! do not hesitate to refer any abuse to the POLITUR (tourist police) . The best is to pay cash in dollar or with travellers checcks but avoide creditcard.
    Any way, if you want to keep yrself out of trouble, find another place!!! other residences with sames manager/owner: colibri and las palmas.

    In the village of Las Terrenas, 150 m from one of the most beautiful sea of Las Terrenas, "Las Ballenas Beach".
    2 bedrooms with queensize bed, shower, kitchen, big covered terrasse, garden..
    The house is fully furnished ( Table, chairs, fridge, cooker with oven, plates, glasses, etc. CD player)
