Cheney Joseph Apartments, St Georges: Beware Grenada apartments

We travelled to Grenada during the Cricket World Cup in April 2007. Wonderful island. Beautiful beaches. We thought we were lucky to find accomodation at the last minute through an agency called Homestays ( www.homestaysgrenada.com). They found us a 2-bedroomed new apartment called CHENEY JOSEPH not far from the airport which it turned out they had not inspected yet - completely contrary to Grenada government rules. The cost was a whopping US $200 per night - escalated for the World Cup. Initially the accomodation seemed fine. However from the 2nd day all running water to the apartment finished ( sink, shower, toilets). The owner was apparently trying to fix the problem but not getting anywhere. The reason seemed to be poor construction and plumbing. Eventually we had to move out after 4 nights into alternative accomodation. The agency and owner wanted to charge us for 3 nights but we managed to settle for 2, even that was a cheek considering the lack of water. Although Homestays generally offer good accomodation, make sure that they have personally inspected the accomodation.

Recently finished, modern, a/c in bedrooms only but sitting room is like an oven. Plumbing poorly fitted resulting in water supply problems.
