If you don't know the first thing about french this is an excellent hotel to stay at. At the front desk they will exchange your travelers checks to Euros at your convenience, which is definitely a plus since elsewhere you'd usually have to go to a bank and pay a fee to exchange your money. In addition, the staff is very friendly. Out of those that work at the front desk a couple of the people that know English especially well and will go above and beyone for you are Laure (pronounced Lo) and Charmane. In addition to those two, if you have a problem the manager George speaks very good English as well. If you are young this is a good hotel to stay at because most of the people at the front desk are young and will joke around with you if you joke with them. And if you like a casino atmosphere a casino is about a 4 minute walk away. The beach is nice to lounge on and they have ping pong that you can play and if you want to rent a kayack or go on a private plane ride you can do that. However, the unfortunate thing is that those things are pretty expensive to rent. In addition, another negative is that the beach is very small so if you really enjoy walking along the beach you will be unable to do that there. Nevertheless another beach is a relatively short walk away (about 10 minutes) that you can walk down. Excellent hotel. The staff were wonderful.

Hotel-residence CANELLA BEACH is located in Gosier, at the tip of "Pointe de la Verdure", on a fine sand beach and in a large tropical garden. The Creole architecture and colored decoration give your stay a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.
790F for a studio The studio offers you the opportunity to be a little more independent and cook your own food. From the terrace, you'll always have a great view, garden or ocean. Great variety of services and accomodations: kitchenette and lounge area in your studio, safe in the room, conditionned air, tv, phone, restaurant in the hotel (great big buffet in the morning, bistro on the beach during the day and great tables at night) or near-by (pizzeria, ...), bakery and boutiques, pool, free mask and tuba, kayak or boat, chair and towels for the beach, excursions, and so on... I really enjoyed my stay there, it's calm and beautiful, right on the beach. But I found we were far from the cities. If you don't rent a car or a tour bus, you'll be on the beach or pool a lot!!

We are planning a trip to Guadeloupe in Decemberr and plan to stay at Canella beach hotel in St .Anne ( 70 Euro / room / night ) and Gite Pitchouri (280 euro per week for a studio )
Does anybody have experience with these places or a suggestion for a better location / better value for money ?
Any recommendations for a rent a car company ?
I would check the Trip advisor web site before boking Canelle beach. It doesn't sound too good
