    Neither natural disasters nor the passing of century have been able to destroy its beauty. Complete with several Jacuzzis for relaxing... and a very exotic and tonifying pool.... all within rocks and ruins!!! I love the guacamaya birds (macaws) all over the lawn!!!! It's a great place to stay! Highly recommended!!!!! Five star and very cozy!

    Casa Santo Domingo is absolutely gorgeous...
    a Monastery that they've turned into a Hotel (well, part of it) And I'm telling you, being able to listen to the silence and have a chat with history is something one can do in each corner of this Monastery, that belongs to an era in which fountains and copulas had a great relevance it's quite an experience!!!!
    The rooms are luxurious, complete with a fireplace. The pool and hot tub are great for relaxing. At night the walkways are aglow with hundreds of votive candles, which produces a very romantic atmosphere. The brunch is delicious, and there are all the possible breakfast foods you could hope for.

    The rates for this hotel are not cheap, but if you can afford Casa Santo Domingo, it is a great experience.

  • I asked the driver to recommend a place near downtown. He took me to Hotel Posada San Pedro. What a view of the volcanoes I had out the front of my room !! The staff was very friendly and quite helpful. There are plenty of lodging options in Antigua.
    It was nice for about 25 dollars a night.

  • It's close to the city center. I slept there one night and was quite content. Nothing special, though.
    The accomodation looks hostel-average and clean. Rooms are small, and there is a 1 a.m. curfew. I paid 40Q for a room with bathroom.

    The roof terrace has excellent views over the volcanoes and the city.

  • Ok, I really really had a very pleasant stay in Casa Azul. In the morning I had a magnificent view over the volcano Agua from my room on 2nd floor and afterwards a great breakfast: orange juice, black tea, panqueques and a bowl of fruit salad... delicious!!!!

  • The hotel itself is very nice. The rooms are decorated and cleaned well and the restaurant is fantastic.
    But the hotel treats its employees horribly. I stayed at this hotel with my family in January and we overheard the manager arguing with an employee who we had seen working around the hotel a few times. The employee seemed to be in a lot of distress so my dad asked him what was the matter.
    He stated that he had been working at the hotel for 6 months, but had not been paid for the last three weeks. When he had asked for his check for the fourth time they fired him and another employee who also complained. They said that they could find someone else who wouldn't complain as much. He said that he needed his check so he could pay his rent and for his mom's medicine. How horrible is that?!
    I knew that there was a lot of corruption in Guatemala but I hasn't seen it in person. I think that any hotel that treats its employees like that does not derserve to be in business.
    Personally I will never return to that hotel and I urge other Trip Advisor members to do the same.
