Contract Services at the Last Minute
by calcaf38
There is an abundance of little agencies in Antigua who can help you with any aspect of traveling throughout Guatemala. I booked a Pacaya volcano ascent and an airport shuttle from Adventure Travel Center, and the prices were quite reasonable.

Antigua Tours all the Way!
by AlwaysATraveler
Antigua Tours was highly recommended by my Lonely Planet Guatemala guide. We called Antigua Tours and signed up for the three hour Antigua walking tour conducted by Elizabeth Bell who has written books on Antigua. We were so impressed with the tour that we signed up for four other tours: Coffee Plantation, Local Villages Tour, Chichicastenango, and Lake Atitlan. Although the prices were not cheap, the quality was excellent. So impressed with Elizabeth Bell was I that I purchased four of her books, one on the history of Antigua, another on the celebration of the religious season of Lent in Antigua and two children's books.
The second church and convent...
by la_beba
The second church and convent were built from 1723 to 1734. The convent, a large cloister surrounded by a two-storied arcade, had cells for 46 nuns, a hospital with room for convalescing patients, a place for the novices, a sacristy, a dining room, kitchen, and even a ward for insane nuns. The earthquake of 1773 left Santa Clara practically in ruins for the second time, nevertheless the south side of the church, with intricate decoration in molded plaster, is one of the most interesting and well preserved in Antigua Guatemala.
Bells
by easterntrekker
I love church bells but I wondered why in Antigua the first bells started at 430AM. We think the culprit was the bell ringer at Nuestra Senora de la Merced. The gorgeous most photogenic church...maybe someone out there can let us know why ...so early!!
