A hidden gem in Antigua

La Tatuana is a small (5 rooms) boutique-style hotel on a quiet street a few blocks away from the main square. The rooms are all decorated in bright yellow and blue colors and have high ceilings. There is no a/c nor fan, but each room has a private bathroom/shower. Breakfast is included and served in a small outdoor patio. It includes fresh fruit, excellent coffee, good bread and home-made jams.
One advantage of this hotel is that the entrance is kept locked at all times. Of course this means you have to request the attendant to come open the doors for you, as well as ring/knock from the outside, but it is definitely a plus for security-minded travellers. At 25$ for a single, it certainly is worth every penny...espcially when considering the price of hotels in Antigua! I strongly recommend it.
