A funny name..but every saturday they cook for the entire hostel and its good fun

Jungle Party Guesthouse

This guesthouse was full when we came there to find a room, and I must say I'm happy about that. The location of the hostel is great, the prices are good and the inside looked nice. But... When we came in all we saw were "gringo's" hanging around in the lobby. Not that I have something against westerners, but when I'm in Central America I'd like to keep it to the local people as much as possible. Jungle Party definitely is not the place to be if you agree with me. Even the staff is American and when you enter the guesthouse all you will hear is a "Hello, good afternoon..." instead of the "Hola, buenas tardes..." that I'd like to hear.

Some of you will probably have no problem at all with the "problems" I just mentioned, but hopefully this will help those who'd like to stay between the local people as much as possible.

Hostel with a character

Antigua is quite expensive comparing to other Guatemalan towns and that includes lodging. Town is full of nice and pricey hotels, and some of them reminded me of luxurious hotels in Italy and Spain. There aren't too many budget accommodation options that offer reasonable quality and value for the price. So we were lucky when we ran into this hostel. It is not the neatest place on earth but it has special charm and unique character.
