Meson Panza Verde

Looks can be deceiving

We stayed at this hotel two years in a row. Well known for its excellent restaurant. The rooms were beautiful. The service was excellent. Amenities could be just a tad bit better. Like creamer for the coffee pot in your room. The facilities are really beautiful. The upstairs garden terrace is like being in another world. They have an art gallery that is constantly changing. Last year there were paintings this year it was glass.

Downside is the noise from the dining room. It does carry into the rooms. The small breakfast buffet was very unimaginative and limited.
We stayed in the owners apartment. It is used for guests now. The bathroom shower is just a short hose with a sprayer that is in the jacuzzi tub. You have to sit to shower. There is a shower downstairs by the pool that you can use. Otherwise the room was lovely.

Unique Quality: Looks like it has been there for a couple of hundred years and yet it was just built in the mid 1980's.

Rooftop Terrace is just beautiful. There are places to sit and enjoy the view or just relax and read a book. Agua, Fuego, and Acatenango volcanos are all in plain view.

They frequently have live music. This year there was a cuban band that was very good.

Most Romantic Place

tranquil location, a fabulous restaurant and an art exhibition opening during our stay. The atmosphere was lovely and we will definately be returning to stay here on our next visit to Guatemala

Panza Verde

I've never actually stayed at the Panza Verde, but if I were to splurge a little bit during a trip to Antigua, this is where I would stay. This very attractive hotel also boasts a highly-regarded restaurant and a small art gallery. I believe that rooms start at around $70 per night - expensive by Guatemalan standards, but not as outrageously expensive as other room rates I've seen advertised in Antigua.

Colonial Elegance

This hotel is simply stunning. We stayed in a double room off the main courtyard. Breakfast is included in the price and is very good.

The staff are all helpful and friendly and the hotel has a wonderful calm atmosphere. Just take a look at their website (address below) to see some great photos.

Definately a super place to stay for a treat.

Unique Quality: El Meson Panza Verde has a beautiful lap pool, Art Gallery and roof terrace, with an great view of the volcano.

The hotel also has an excellant restaurant.
