Decisions, decisions . . .: Pana or San Pedro . . .

There are plenty of accommodations in Panjachel and San Pedro, but it's possible to find more off the beaten path lodging in some of the other villages as well. You're likely to arrive at the lake in Panajachel, so if you don't have a reservation and need a little help in doing so, just head to Calle Santander and ask at one of the tourist agencies.

We just asked the bus driver on the way into town and ended up at Larry's Place in Pana. It was a great place with a convenient location, a reasonable price and an almost hot shower (that's about the best you can expect here!).

Posada de los Volcanes: Good location and great rate

WE feel we made a good choice with this one.. The rooms are small but clean, with hot water ,a view and TV. The service is firts rate . I booked everything by email and even arranged for airport pickup.

Good location right in town. $35.00 for the two of us!

Unique Quality: They have a very helpful tour desk and arranged our airport pickup and shuttle back to Guatemala

Vulcano Hotel: Beautiful Hotel

Located on the breathtaking Lago de Atitlan in the small village of Jaibilito, this hotel is run by a wonderful Norweigen couple who were so very nice. The hotel also has a restaurant with great breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Everybody who stayed there ate dinner together family style. It was a great way to meet people. My stay was relaxing and fun. I had such a great time.

Unique Quality: There is not much else to do in this village so if you just need to unwind for a minute and rest your weary feet this is the place. It also is a good "home base" so you can spend your days visiting other villages around the lake and then make it back in time to have dinner with all the other guests and swap stories of your day.

Hotel Mario's Rooms: Very good backpacker's hotel

Very spacious room around a lovely courtyard with hundreds of kolibri's which are looking for their flowers.
There's a very clean shower and toilet.
We paid 65 quetzales for this double.

The rooms with common shower are of the same quality for only 35 Q

Highly recommended
