Hotel Aaculax: A Bit Of Paradise
I traveled with friends on a chicken bus on a weekend getaway to explore a bit more of Guatemala. While we had seen photos of some of the rooms, they did not do the site justice. The rooms have awesome views and are set among luscious gardens. There are ample surrounding restaurants and a bit of nightlife too. Breakfast of fruits, hard boiled eggs, toast, are is served on a garden terrace. It is possible to walk the entire area in a matter of minutes. It is a lovely peaceful area that is etched in my memory.
Unique Quality: Gardens and vistas.

Posada Schumann: Easy to find the Posada Schumann
My stay at the Posada Schumann was a very comfortable one. The rooms were clean and very spacious. Finding this place was a cinch. As soon as the boat drops you off, hang a left and go up the main little causeway. The Posada Schumann also has a sauna which is real nice but for some reason it feels like a giant pressure cooker. You see it looks like a huge water mine kindof a thing. Food wise, you don't have to travel far. The restaurant is right there on the patio, you get to eat next to cats and hummingbirds, quite the cultural experience.
Unique Quality: OK, this place was kind to us. We could have gotten kicked out cuz things did get a little out of hand at night, we were loud, we had the music blasting and we came to rock this place. Mind you this is a place of meditation! But the staff was real nice with us. For this reason the get 5 stars. Thanks for the memories!
