The Casa Elena is just down the road to the left of Nick's and has 6 rooms. The upper rooms have views over the lake and hammocks and you can't beat the price at only around 15 Q per night.
The Hotel Valle Azul is also near Nick's Place and has similar prices and simple, basic clean accommodations for under 20 Q. It's a popular place for backpackers and travelers and is conveniently located next to the local drinking holes. Theme: Other

This hostel is not close to the water as many other hostels, but it is located a little outside the center. To get here from the pier and the boat from Panajachel, you have to walk on small trails passing local small houses and small gardens and fields, where the main crop is corn.
I liked that walk very much, and that was part of the reason why I wanted to stay here at this hostel.
The hostel is a few hundred meters from the shore, where the boat to Santiago Atitlan leaves.
I payed 12 Q for a double room (year 2001 prices), but single rooms were even cheaper.
The rooms at this hostels are very basic and so are the shared bathrooms and toilets. I didn't spend much time in my room, so I didn't care much about that anyway.
I spend some time in the nice garden, where I relaxed in a hammock and just talked to fellow travellers. Once in a while some of the local women showed up to sell food. That was great. One day one of them had baked some bananacakes, and they were still warm. That tasted so great and it was a good idea to come here and sell them. They also sold avocadoes and fruit.
The hostel had a restaurant with the same name across the road, but I never got around to eat here.
Close to the hostel an american woman had a little shop where she sold homemade and fresh bread. That was a great breakfast or a nice lunch with a ripe avocado on top. Its one of the cheapest hostals in San Pedro. It has got the nicierst garden, hamocks, its the best backpackers meeting place, secure and 24 hours open. Here u can stay for little less than two dollars.

This very clean hotel is run by local people. Very friendly staff! Really recommended! No breakfast but a cheapie!
They have rooms with window and balcony facing the Lake of Atitlan, it's a very beautiful spot. My iPod and digital camera were hidden in my backpack when I went out to dinner.
The door was locked, it automatically locks when you close the door.
Several people that work at Casa Emmanuel have keys to the rooms, including the owner's teenage son.
When I returned to my room, my iPod and camera were gone.
This hotel costs about two dollars a night less than most other hotels in San Pedro, but when items get stolen from your room, it ends up being much more expensive.

Hotel is located right between the center and the docks. Our room was on the first floor, we had bathroom and 2 beds inside, and a couple of hammocks in front of the room. It was very clean and the host lady was awesome. Price was funny - US $5.50 for 2...:-)

It also has a kitchen in the roof, by the way ... the view from the roof is even better! The bathrooms are always shared, the whole place is quite clean ... especially considering you pay only Q$ 20 (less than USD 3!!!).
