a cruise on this beautiful lake is a MUST! not only will you enjoy a wonderful boat trip on a lovely calm lake, but its also a great chance to spot local birdlife, to see the jungle and a variety of plant species, and most interesting, to see locals and how they live in this part of the world. it is definitely a relaxing way to spend a couple of hours, and the best bit is, most of the boats have covers so you can sit in the shade and just chill! :)photo 1 - just a bit of the lake

for a boat with around 10 people it will cost around 150 quetzales (per boat) which works out to a ridiculously small amount of around US$2 per person for a two hour boat trip! great value, and remember, by using these local boatmen, you are most probably helping a family out. our guide was a friendly chap, with little english, but it didnt matter, we were happy to just cruise! please remember also to tip. tipping is a big part of life here, and helps out the local people.
