Beautiful Views... But That's About It

Bad (2.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on July 27, 2014

Hotel Montana should be so much better. It is blessed with some lovely views of Port-au-Prince and was very nicely rebuilt after the 2010 earthquake.

I find myself unsatisfied with two important aspects of this hotel. First, the service is very poor. Staff are not friendly and rooms are not properly cleaned. Also, the gentleman that runs the front desk seems to be very dishonest.

Second, the food at the sole restaurant at the hotel - Acajou - is overpriced and very hit and miss. Unfortunately, the one item I have been satisfied with during my 3-week stay is their hamburger, which is not even on the menu. The Haitian Pork dish is virtually inedible.

For future trips to PAP, I will look to stay elsewhere.

I only went for supper. It was one of the freshest meals I have ever had. It is as if the chef had just got back from catching my red snapper. It was also nice to have some Hatian music to dance to and a great pool that a few team members utilized (even if we didnt have our bathing suits)....amazing view from the balcony as well. I was truly impressed with this hotel, it seemed very well kept. I forgot a few times that I was in the poorest country in the western hemisphere.

Unique Quality: the view from the balcony, the food, the pool and the great little band they had playing!!! Great atmosphere!

Directions: In a very tranquil area of Port-au-Prince
