Mar Jenny: Clean and well kept

I didn't know where to stay when riding the Hedman Alas bus from San Salvador to Copán Ruinas. Fortunately, a guy who called himself José was waiting at the bus terminal. Normally I never give in to people waiting at bus terminals but he showed me some pictures and it was 9:30 a.m. Sunday morning so I thought what the heck. He drove me a few blocks over to I could take a look. The room cost me about $10 for a single.

The hotel has a store front that sells general items. There is a gated area that leads to a courtyard / parking area. The building is two stories and surrounds the courtyard. Upstairs shaded but outside are some hammocks - it's a nice place to chill out in the evenings.

The rooms aren't bad. They all have cable TV and seem very clean and well kept. While the TVs are small and old, they do have about 50 channels. I spent an evening watching cheesy US flicks like "Undercover Brother".

The rooms have fans which is surprisingly adequate. I thought I would bake but I didn't uncomfortable at all and I'm from Seattle (where it's seldom hot).

The owner did is best to keep me occupied too. He suggested I go on a horseback tour, told me how to get to the ruins (and offered to take me though I drove), and recommended a good , cheap restaurant close by.

Marina Copan: Nice Hotel in Copan

We spent 2 nights and our room was very nice and comfortable. The staff were helpful the pool was quite nice as well. We only had breakfast at the restaurant and it was fine.

Very good location in the village, which is not too big anyway.

Hotellito Copan: Basic for backpackers

We paid 50 Lempira for a double and got a very basic room.
It was terrible hot and the fan was bad.
The shower was passable

Good for one night, not more

Enough places to sleep

Don't worry too much about where to stay the night. When your bus arrives there are enough locals willing to show your their hotel.

Make sure you bargain on the price! Especially in situations where a lot of people are trying to talk you into their place you have a great opportunity to work on the price!

The ViaVia café

The 'Via Via' is a meeting place for travelers. This café is part of the now international network of Flemish Via Via cafés (Kathmandu , Leon, Zanzibar, Leuven, Yogyakarta, Dakar, Antwerpen, Cataluña, Copan, Arusha). In the most of the cafés you'll also find cheap, but very good accomodation. Also in Copan ruinas.

In the restaurant you'll find a big menu with dishes from all over the world for a relatively good price (still a bit expensive to Hondurean standards).
