Hotel "Italia": Very decent - but where the rat came from?

I was in La Ceiba in December 2006 for 2 nights and I stayed in hotel "Italia". It is located in the center of the town. Hotel itself is very safe but the street where it is located gets quite deserted in the evening - so I did not feel very comfortable walking there at night.

Even though La Ceiba has lots of homeless people who ask for money, I felt quite safe there even though I was alone.

Unique Quality: Hotel is an open concept (very common in Latin America) and even though everything (including the room) was very clean - I must say I saw a rat in front of my door one night...

I paid US$13 for a single room with bath and TV (this is above average for La Ceiba so if you are paying this much you should expect some "luxury").
