Bananarama Dive & Beach Resorts: A paradise by the ocean

The main purpose of this trip was to scuba dive, and we did it every day. It was great to just hop on a boat off the resort beach was very easy and great. All the staffs including the servers at the restaurants were nice and helpful. The place is rather old, towels were a bit scratchy, and the water temperature for shower changed constantly. However, the warm/hot temperature in late December, which was like a heaven to us coming from freezing Connecticut. No TV in the room meant we spent more time with each other and reading books, etc. Enjoyed outdoor as you are supposed to do while you are in Roatan.

Do bring bug spray and lotions, and any other bug related items that you can think of. The sand fleas and mosquitos were every where on the island though the resort was doing best to minimize them within their facilities.

The place has 3 restaurants, sports rental, scuba dive shop, convenience store, gift shop, and activity concierge.

Enjoyed eating at one of the restaurants every day sitting by a beautiful beach. Every morning, they make freshly squeezed fruit juice, which was delicious.

BananaRama: Interesting Place In West Bay

We stayed in the Owners Villa (1,800 square feet) for the price of $1,50 per night. This was a great place with a few interesting quirks. First off...there is no cable or satellite TV...they do have a DVD collection for $2 each time limit. Also...the power gets turned off for a few hours every Sunday to conserve energy. One great thing is that because there are no ATM's nearby, the front office will give you a cash advance on your credit card...for a 5% fee...even if you are not able to normally get one. The staff always addressed me by my name and while the bar/restaurant staff are slow...the service is is average.

The views are are on the beach. Water taxi's are right outside and a little shopping center is a 3 minute walk. There is a Grocery store and a neat gift shop called Penelope's...very friendly.
