Its true there hapen things in Tegucigalpa, but many depends on yourself of course. I would say don't show around with you digital camera in fonrt of the many streetchildren and don't just walk around after dark.
Comayagüela, Tegucigalpa's twin city, might even be more dangerous.
SILVER HILL

"A CITY SURROUNDED BY HILLS"
Tegucigalpa is a name derived from native "Taguzgalpa" which means Silver Hill. The hills surrounding the city used to be rich in silver which attracted Spanish "Conquistadores".
Today "Teguz" as it is affectionally called is the Capital of Honduras ,a tiny piece of paradise in central america. Most people here are very nice and friendly, though , like the rest of the world there's some up to no good. The best thing about Teguz is that in a few minutes you can be inside a tropical rainforest, a pine forest, a little mining town and many other wonders to visit.
The city itself is funny it has grown all in disorder ,corners often do not meet, wide streets turn into cobblestoned pathways more than a hundres years old. The streets are not straight or flat they weave in and out up and down and over smaller hills and branch up towards the tips of the surrounding hills. If you like thrills, try looking out the window as your plane lands in the airport. don't worry our pilots can do it with their eyes closed.
