Balcony suite: The best of the Pearl

by heavenlydee

We were, ALL, treated like royalty.. Although room service took a while, everything, and everybody else were superb... Rooms cleaned and refilled each day.. Beds turned down at night... The service was fabulous, in every way..

The views were one of a kind.. The employees knew me by my name...lol... It's hard forgetting me, after the first encounter...lol... They had it all... Restaurants that covered every ethnicity.. More food than you could ever imagine.. And FABULOUS, at that...
They had something for everyone, of every age, of every race, of every taste... You could NEVER run out of things to do...

Foster Resort: There is always something better

by boricuajc

Foster's on West Bay is on an excellent location in West Bay. This is where the pros ends. Fosters is in need of a major make-over. As soon as you open the door to one of the rooms you realize you have made a mistake on your island accommodations. The rooms are aged. No TV, No radio. I was surprised that the AC worked efficiently. The first night at Fosters I was awaken by crabs and a giant roach in my room. I soon found out that the shower drains directly into a swamp in the back of the cabana and this was the source of where the roaches were getting into the rooms. A wet wash clothe into the drain at night solved the roach problem.

Location, Location. Fosters Resort sits on the best beach in Roatan Island and my cabana was approximately 25 feet from the beach and about 15 feet from Anemona Divers, Dive shop.

Little Cay: Private Heaven in Honduras

by Sheilakee

If you REALLY want to get away from it all, this private island in the Bay of Honduras is perfect. The island is approx one acre, with a main house, a small guest house and a small shack for the generator. Stove and fridge gas powered, indoor plumbing with cistern water (bring drinking water)

House is lovely, island is fabulous. You really feel like you're alone in paradise - palm trees, pelicans, hermit crabs and you. Totally private, with people just a radio call away (make sure the radio works before the manager leaves) You're cell phone will probably work, although I doubt you'll turn it on.

Pick up your supplies on Utila before heading out (Bush's supermarket has everything - don't buy beef!) Fridge is not huge but there was a large cooler for beer.

Upstairs in main house has two double beds, one single in a nice breezy room, downstairs is a double bed but the room can be hot out of the breeze. Guest house sleeps three but doesn't look as breezy.

This is as remote as I could have hoped for. It's not for everyone! Make sure you really get along with your travel partners because not everyone likes that much quiet.

To watch the sun rise and set on your own island is an experience everyone should have once in their life. The snorkeling is unbelievable and very safe, even if you've never snorkeled before.

Henry Morgan: Henry Morgan Resort -- a good deal

by webdog

I enjoyed it here. It was all-inclusive, smack-dab on a beautiful beach. Good eats, entertainment, comfy accomodations.

Hotel Presidente: Reasonable mid-price option in Tela

by iwys

Hotel Presidente is a reasonable place to stay in Tela. It's opposite Parque Central, in the town centre, about a 5-minute walk from the beach. The 39 rooms have AC and TV, but they vary in standard. Try to get one overlooking the swimming pool. A double room, with swimming pool view, costs $50. Breakfast is not included.

Seagrape Plantation Resort: Great hotel in Roatán

by iwys

The Seagrape Plantation Resort was the best hotel I stayed in during my travels in Central America. The 22 rooms are bright, spacious and very comfortable. There is a great swimming pool and a dive shop. It is best for couples as the rooms cost $55 per night for single or double occupancy. There are discounts for stays of 5 nights or longer and they also offer dive/hotel packages.

Tip Photo
Hotel Plaza Centro: Depressing hotel in Tegucigalpa

by iwys

The Hotel Plaza Centro was the most depressing hotel I stayed in during my travel in Honduras. It is shabby and the staff seem totally unable to cope. The only thing it has going for it is a good downtown location. My advice is, don't stay here. A dirty room, in which the window wouldn't close, rendering the AC useless, cost $40, including an awful breakfast. The lobby was chaotic. The hotel commonly overbooks so don't expect them to honour your reservation.

Lauro's Hotel: Nice place in Copán Ruinas

by iwys

Lauro's Hotel is a nice, friendly, family-run hotel with a good location just off Parque Central. The room I stayed in was a pretty double, with quilted bedspreads, freshly-painted walls, ceiling fan, and TV. It cost $25. Rooms with AC cost $40.

Tip Photo
The César Mariscos Hotel and Restaurant

by traveldave

The César Mariscos Hotel and Restaurant is family-owned and operated. It features 18 rooms that open onto private balconies overlooking the boardwalk, beach, and Caribbean Sea. (Although there is one room which overlooks a paved parking lot behind the hotel and which does not have a balcony. This is the room I ended up with). Rooms are equipped with air conditioning, a safety deposit box, a hair dryer, and television. There are no telephones in the rooms, but telephone calls can be made from the front desk.

Guests seem to spend most of their time on the beach, but the hotel does offer an infinity swimming pool and a jacuzzi on the second level.

In addition, the hotel has a very good beachfront restaurant specializing in local cuisine and seafood.
