Anthony's Key Resort: Anthony's Key Resort

by MIdgiemoon

Spent a week at AKR scuba diving. They have an excellent program for kids, and both of mine came home with scuba certification cards. The resort is self contained, and all meals are included with the package price. The diving was super, and the weather was a tropical 90 degrees every day. We had large sea turles on every dive, and the boat crew and dive staff were outstanding, and made the trip a wonderful experience.

This is a great place to go as a family!

Dolphin experience, tropical weather, and diving!

El Tamarindo: Great old house for a hostel

by alza

In San Pedro Sula. Totally pleasant. I wasn't in San Pedro to visit much, I just needed to organise my stuff and find a few essentials before heading off the beaten track for a while. This hostel had it all, mostly, it had Angel, the young manager, who tells you right from the start that this place is your home. No rules of any kind.
You better like loud rockin music... Angel has the sound system of all sound systems. I like it loud when it's good so no problem. And he *will* turn it down when you are talking to him.

Huge private residence in a calm, clean area of town, recently converted into a hostel. Walking distance to everything of interest.

Hotel Bahía de Omoa: Hotel Bahía de Omoa

by thelukey

A two-story house converted into a four-room hotel, the Hotel Bahía de Omoa offers clean, attractive, decent-sized rooms with private bath, hot water, a/c, and cable TV at a reasonable price – my wife and I paid 450 lempiras a night (roughly $25) to stay there in January 2005.

Foster's West Bay Resort: Roatan accommodation

by Mittnic

Nice place with bungalows at the beginning of West Bay beach. Beautiful setting. Friendly staff that should be working harder at maintenance of the place.

Poor value for money, especially the restaurant is severly over-priced.

Jungle River Lodge: Best lodging/ tour operators La Ceiba

by campana

Rustic lodging (shared bathrooms and showers, no hot water), dorm or single rooms (dorms are free if you take their tours), and some nights the guests are up late partying with loud music at their bar. Saying that, it is a place I highly recommend. The lodge is situated on the Rio Cangrejal looking up on Pico Bonito with beautiful scenery, great tours (rafting, hiking, canopy, etc), experienced and really nice guides, and great food. I stayed extra nights because I couldn't tear myself away from the views.
They also own the Banana Republic Guest House in La Ceiba which is very nice and also cheap (and has hot water showers).

This place has great views and is very peaceful. The rock pools are nice to hang out in when it's hot or just sit on a huge boulder by the river. The kids who work there and are learning to be guides cook excellent food. The tours are great even if you don't spend the night there (although you can't beat drinking your morning coffee by the river).

Finca Las Glorias: Lago de Yojoa

by campana

Hotel Las Glorias has beautiful grounds and great views of the lake/mountains. The large property also attracts large groups, but it never felt too much like a resort. The individual cabins allow you to get away from the other visitors and there is plenty of room to stroll around and sit out near the lake.

The hotel has a good restaurant and a pool as well as pool tables and volleyball net if you have enough people to play.

House Rental: Utila

by epicult

This baby could be yours for $15.00 bucks a night. That's right $15.00! It needed a little fixin' up (cleaning) but was very comfy. Unfortunately, it's not on the water but the main strip, in the central part of town. Bonus is, Trevor lives next door, so you'll never be bored :-). We wanted something on the water so made our way over to Freddie's run by the lovely Lucille and her husband Fred.

If you'd like to rent the place, talk with the woman at Celena's a couple doors down. She's very nice and will set you up.

Right on the main street. Great people/tourist watching.

Close to everything

Trevor lives next door :-)

Tobacco Road Inn: Nice Hostel in Tegus

by Tatianaxanadu

hey, this is a nice hostel, near the market, run by a friendly american guy, who is very accomodating, I think his name's Kevin (tell him hello from Tatiana, Martín's canadian friend if you go). its small, but clean, has cute cats, hammocks and a nice little bar out front that plays a fun mix of music (mostly north american...so its good if you want a break from the constant barrage of meregue/salsa/punta etc...). It's cheap enough (i cant really remember, but for me and a friend sharing a room it was $4) and has a real homey atmosphere.

Small selection of books for sale, little bohemian type bar for chillin out and playing board games (available from bartender), little courtyard with hamocks and an orange tree, bread and hot chocolate/ coffee for breakfast included, hot shower (!!!!).
