This was not our first cruise, but our most elegant. I would highly recommend boarding the Liberty of the Seas on your next voyage! We were fortunate to get a state room with a balcony as most of them were taken because this ship was beautifully hyped on the Travel Channel. Our room was nicely appointed and the service was superb from beginning to end. All the rooms had flat screen full size tv's. We chose THE LIBERTY OF THE SEAS because of all it offered the seagoing traveler! The Royal Promenade held a fine jewelry shop, a pub, ice cream parlor, perfume shop, a General Store, Fashion Boutique, cafe, lounge and a shop carrying work-out clothing. Magnificent dinners were served on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. Numerous specialty restaurants were also available for an extra charge. Entertainment was offered each evening at a multitude of lounges throughout the ship. Please see these pics: Picture 2 The Water Park Picture 3 The Rembrandt Dining Room Picture 4 The Promenade Picture 5 The Pool area at night The shows were fantastic--running the gamut from comedy, breath-taking arial acts, broadway to musical extravaganzas. The casino seemed to attract many people each night to the slots or table games. The pool area on the 11th deck was amazing! A bright, colorful waterpark for the kids, a lively pool and entertainment area for families/ singles and quiet, adult-only pool for those who wished to escape the crowd were located here. A luxurious spa and fitness center offered all the pampering one might want. The 'flow-rider' was very popular with those who wanted to experience surfing on board. A rock climbing wall, basketball court, mini-golf course, ice skating rink, boxing ring and extensive arcade kept the younger set amused! Children had wonderful choices for entertainment each night as they checked into clubs designed for their particular age groups. Our grandson enjoyed several late nights at a kids club with other children his age (a special after hours club extended from 10pm-1 am).

Our Deluxe Oceanview Suite by deecat At first, three of us were supposed to take this cruise: my daughter Jill, my sister Ronda, and myself. However, my daughter was unable to go. For three, we needed a suite; when the unexpected came about, I called to change to a regular room, but since none were available, they gave us the suite for the price of a regular room! Our room, #1016 had a large window, two beds that can convert to a king-size or stay as two doubles, a mini-bar, sitting area, private bath with marble whirlpool tub/shower, interactive television, personalized stationery, and a BUTLER. (yes, a butler!) It was a large room & comfortable but not opulent. It had soft pastel colors, plenty of closet & drawer space, a safe, hair dryer, radio, & the TV had CNN and movie channels. There are no private verandahs on the Horizon. Another advantage of the suite was that we could either go downstairs to the breakfast buffet or have a full breakfast delivered to the room.
The most unique characteristic of the suite was how spacious it was and how much storage space was built in. Of course, having a butler was pretty awesome, too! Theme: OtherComparison: about averagePhone: (800) 256-6649Directions: Miami Pier, Miami, Florida

Eden Rock by steph4867 Eden Rock. Very pricey but worth a visit, even if you barely have two coins to rub together. It has a fabulous view, menu, and bar. $500+
Set on a craggy bluff that splits Baie de St-Jean is St. Barths' first hotel, originally opened in the 1950s by Rémy de Haenen. Comfortable rooms have four-poster beds, mosquito netting, sparkling silver fixtures, terra-cotta floors, and stunning bay views. The hotel's beach features comfortable chaises, umbrellas, and a sea-water whirlpool. The price includes a terrific breakfast buffet. I guess that's what a cruise ship basically is. The MS Sensation has several restaurants, bars, decks, pools, a casino, Internet Cafe, Beauty Salon, Gym, and stores. Basically, there's something for everyone. I'm sure there's a bunch of child related places and activities but I wouldn't know.
You're on a boat! You can sit out on a deck, look at the blue, blue Caribbean, watch the stars at night and wake up in a new location! Was a little dissappointed in the food. However, I guess we got what we paid for. These cruises are a deal. More so, if you don't drink. Not a plus for me as my bar tab was almost as much as the cruise cost. Oops! Still, all in all, it's a great deal for your money. It's not the kind of trip I'd always want to take and if I do cruise again, I'd love to try another, higher priced line - but I had a great time. The Ranguana Lodge. Very rustic, but right on the beach, w/a deck w/a hammock, fridge, plenty of room. Didn't realize how great we had it until arriving back from a day of snorkling to find people on the beach checking out our lodge, asking all about it. Very reasonably priced. $65/night Theme: OtherComparison: less expensive than averageOther Contact: they do have a website, not sure

by Aussie666 The Comfort Inn is just that, comfortable. It relatively new and clean but is across the road from the beach which means, no beach view. It does have a Cabana bar and a very nice pool (no resturant but they do serve a continental breakfast each morning with coffee). It location does lend itself well for those who don't care about emenities or pampering being centered on the strip. $90-130/night dpending on the season with week specials that include $100 bar allowance (for the week).
Power outages are frequent on the island but the hotel has back up power which came in use 5-6 times during the course of a week. Theme: HotelComparison: less expensive than averageDirections: It's right in the Ports of Call which is a small commons area made up of restuants, bars, dive shop, liquor store and care rentals. The walk to the beach is about 300 yards and is paved all the way.

There is no denying that hotel rooms carry high prices. You're paying for the privilege of staying on the island, and even at $500 a night the bedrooms tend to be small. Still, if you're flexible - in terms of timing and in your choice of lodgings - you can enjoy a holiday in St. Barths and still afford to send the kids to college. The most expensive season falls during the holidays (mid-December to early January), and hotels are booked far in advance for this period. (Rates in listings here are for the second-highest period, early January through April, which is still in season but not the holiday peak.) Although more hotels and restaurants here have seasonal closings (from August to September or October) than on other islands, some places are still open in August. If you're on a budget, look into an off-season stay, when rates can drop by as much as 50%. Most top hotels are on four northern beaches: Anse des Flamands, Anse des Cayes, Baie de St-Jean, and Grand Cul de Sac. In the hills away from the beaches are a number of surprisingly reasonable small hotels, guest houses, rental villas, and bungalows that significantly broaden your options. And regardless of the lodgings you choose, you'll want a car to explore the island. On St. Barths, the term villa is used to describe anything from a small cottage to a sprawling manor. Today almost half of St. Barths's visitor accommodations are in villas, and rentals make a lot of sense, especially for longer stays or if more than one or two people are traveling together. Most houses include a small private swimming pool and maid service daily except Sunday. Houses are well equipped with linens, kitchen tools, and such electronic playthings as CD players, TVs, and VCRs. In-season rates range from $700 to $25,000 a week. If you get a group of friends together, you can rent a villa for significantly less than it would cost for each person to stay in an expensive hotel. Peak periods are usually booked solid by the previous summer. Though cancellations do occur, it's best to reserve a villa as far in advance as possible. Professionalism and congeniality are the hallmarks of ST. BARTH PROPERTIES, INC. (PHONE: 508/528-7727 or 800/421-3396, FAX: 508/528-7789, www.stbarth.com). American owner Peg Walsh has been a regular on St. Barths since 1986 and represents properties only here. With more than 100 properties, she and her staff can guide you to the perfect place to stay. Weekly peak-season rates range from $1,400 to $40,000 depending on the property's size, location, and amenities. Write for their Dream Portfolio booklet, which describes the villas they represent. The company also has an office in Gustavia, with their French affiliate St. Barth Dream Vacations (Residence La Source, Gustavia, PHONE: 590/29-72-03, www.stbarth.com). SIBARTH REAL ESTATE oversees more than 200 properties on St. Barths. Bookings are arranged through the company's representative, WIMCO (PHONE: 800/932-3222, FAX: 401/847-6290, www.wimcovillas.com), which is based in Newport, Rhode Island. Properties can be previewed and reserved over the Internet, or you can obtain the Vendome Guide to St. Barthélemy by mail. Rents range from $1,000 to $3,500 per week for one-bedroom villas and $1,800 to $7,000 for two- and three-bedroom villas. Larger villas rent for $7,000 per week and up. All prices are for a standard double room during the second-highest rate period: January through mid-April. Christmas through New Year rates are close to double, but summer rates are about half. In most cases prices include tax and service. Theme: Pension/Guesthouse
