The Liberty of the Seas: A Seagoing Palace

by VeronicaG

This was not our first cruise, but our most elegant. I would highly recommend boarding the Liberty of the Seas on your next voyage!

We were fortunate to get a state room with a balcony as most of them were taken because this ship was beautifully hyped on the Travel Channel. Our room was nicely appointed and the service was superb from beginning to end. All the rooms had flat screen full size tv's.

We chose THE LIBERTY OF THE SEAS because of all it offered the seagoing traveler! The Royal Promenade held a fine jewelry shop, a pub, ice cream parlor, perfume shop, a General Store, Fashion Boutique, cafe, lounge and a shop carrying work-out clothing.

Magnificent dinners were served on the 3rd, 4th and 5th floors. Numerous specialty restaurants were also available for an extra charge. Entertainment was offered each evening at a multitude of lounges throughout the ship. Please see these pics:

Picture 5 The Pool area at night

The shows were fantastic--running the gamut from comedy, breath-taking arial acts, broadway to musical extravaganzas. The casino seemed to attract many people each night to the slots or table games.

The pool area on the 11th deck was amazing! A bright, colorful waterpark for the kids, a lively pool and entertainment area for families/ singles and quiet, adult-only pool for those who wished to escape the crowd were located here. A luxurious spa and fitness center offered all the pampering one might want.

The 'flow-rider' was very popular with those who wanted to experience surfing on board. A rock climbing wall, basketball court, mini-golf course, ice skating rink, boxing ring and extensive arcade kept the younger set amused!

Children had wonderful choices for entertainment each night as they checked into clubs designed for their particular age groups. Our grandson enjoyed several late nights at a kids club with other children his age (a special after hours club extended from 10pm-1 am).

Gran Caribe Real Resort: Best of Cancun

by rozebudred

Great place, best location on the beach. It's not upper end and it's definitely not lower end either. Good prices on all-inclusives. In the Hotel Zone on the open ocean side (you don't want to stay on the north-facing beaches ... unless you don't like a fun surf!

Wonderful views. Numerous villas besides the hotel rooms. Good pool out front oceanside. Good restaurants. Great sandbar and surf. Crystal water like you won't believe!

MS Sensation: A Floating Hotel

by garridogal

I guess that's what a cruise ship basically is. The MS Sensation has several restaurants, bars, decks, pools, a casino, Internet Cafe, Beauty Salon, Gym, and stores. Basically, there's something for everyone. I'm sure there's a bunch of child related places and activities but I wouldn't know.

You're on a boat! You can sit out on a deck, look at the blue, blue Caribbean, watch the stars at night and wake up in a new location!

Was a little dissappointed in the food. However, I guess we got what we paid for. These cruises are a deal. More so, if you don't drink. Not a plus for me as my bar tab was almost as much as the cruise cost. Oops! Still, all in all, it's a great deal for your money. It's not the kind of trip I'd always want to take and if I do cruise again, I'd love to try another, higher priced line - but I had a great time.

With A Butler As An Added Bonus!: Horizon's Oceanview Deluxe Suite

by deecat

At first, three of us were supposed to take this cruise: my daughter Jill, my sister Ronda, and myself. However, my daughter was unable to go. For three, we needed a suite; when the unexpected came about, I called to change to a regular room, but since none were available, they gave us the suite for the price of a regular room!

Our room, #1016 had a large window, two beds that can convert to a king-size or stay as two doubles, a mini-bar, sitting area, private bath with marble whirlpool tub/shower, interactive television, personalized stationery, and a BUTLER. (yes, a butler!) It was a large room & comfortable but not opulent.

It had soft pastel colors, plenty of closet & drawer space, a safe, hair dryer, radio, & the TV had CNN and movie channels. There are no private verandahs on the Horizon.

Another advantage of the suite was that we could either go downstairs to the breakfast buffet or have a full breakfast delivered to the room.

The most unique characteristic of the suite was how spacious it was and how much storage space was built in.

Of course, having a butler was pretty awesome, too!

Jack Tarr: Jack Tarr

by berthadans

This was a very clean resort with wonderful food and two gorgeous pools.
The swimming area is very small and the water sports were limited.
The staff were extremely polite and helpful.
Rooms were exquisite with a beautiful view of the bay.
When we visited, Jack Tarr had just purchased this resort and was making many renovations.

Hotel Del Mar in Manuel Antonio. It was 30 dollars a night and because we went during low season, we were the only people in the hotel. The staff were very friendly in making us feel special.

by Debala

The Ranguana Lodge. Very rustic, but right on the beach, w/a deck w/a hammock, fridge, plenty of room. Didn't realize how great we had it until arriving back from a day of snorkling to find people on the beach checking out our lodge, asking all about it. Very reasonably priced.
