This was our vacation/honeymoon package in September, 2000. The resort had everything imaginable from dining to drinks to activities to a private beach all without leaving the hotel grounds. We booked as a package and were very pleased from start to finish with all aspects of the hotel. We especially enjoyed the "themed" dinner nights. We met many other guests who were on their second, third, fourth, etc. visit and planned on many return trips.
Unique Quality: The pool is HUGE and downtown shopping is easily accessible by foot.
I stayed at the Renaissance Jamaica Grande Resort (now the Sunset Jamaica Grande Resort) for 7days/6 nights in late August/early September 2003. We paid for the all-inclusive amenities - all drinks and food included =). It is a very large resort with many rooms. The staff was very friendly. There are a number of different outdoor pools -- one even has a waterfall. Very nice! Unfortunately, it closed for rennovations after 2 days of our arrival. To make this up, the hotel offered their guests a free activity. We chose to go river tubing -- very much fun! The rooms was fairly large -- queen bed, bureau, TV, balcony, closet with safe and large bathroom. I enjoyed my stay but felt I paid too much for what was there.
After complaining about All-inclusives all my live I thought,
maybe I should just check it out for kicks and giggles,
so I spent one night in the biggest all-inclusive of
Jamaica (700 something rooms) with disco, many pools,
waterfalls, tennis, etc...
By the way it's a quite cheap all-inclusive hotel compared
to others...
What can I say, very, very probably my last stay ever in
an all-inclusive! Not only are they bad for local people
and local tourism, but it's just sooooo not my thing..
And to all those who thought that the beach there
is nice:
It's a bloooody harbour for Christs sake!!!!!!!!!!
And not a beach!!!!!!!
(the cruise ships dock right in front of it..)
Unique Quality: The view includes those gigantic cruise ship attrocities that
dock right in front of the hotel.....
