I need resort advice! engagement w/ girl! help

by sandcastle15

Hello friends

First time poster.

I have been doing lots of research in Ocho Rios and the surrounding areas. I narrowed it down to the sunset grande but after reading reviews, am slightly resistant.

I plan to travel there dec 29-jan 2 and want to ask my girl to marry me.

Is this a good place to do so? Can they give me a private dinner on the beach or some other special accomodation?

Also applevacations looks to be the best booking site, any advice on this/

thank you in advance

I don't know about that resort but we loved Sandals Ocho Rios. It's beautiful and very romantic if you're looking for an all-inclusive.

I met a couple that stayed there and did not like it. They said the food and service was not that great. I stayed at the Riu which served good food but service needed improvement. Most couples I met either liked Sandals, Royal Decameron, or Grand Lido Braco. The later is more closer to Montego Bay/Runaway Bay area than Ocho Rios and the most expensive.

Travel Tips for Ocho Rios

Jamaican beaches

by Joan58

Jamaica has to be lived. It's hard to describe the atmosphere you can find on a Jamaican beach, expecially if you go to a free beach, but there is something...special that makes them unique. On a free beach you are not protected as on a private beach, so you can feel a little thrilled and worried...You stay here, hearing the reggae music and looking to someone who are dancing alone smoking a joint. So you can smell a the air...

Not only do you HEAR Bob...

by lar-n-me

Not only do you HEAR Bob Marley everywhere you go, from transportation entertainment to Jamaicans singing his songs, but his picture on the side of a building?!?!?!? (center pic) This Marley mon is a Jamaican God.

A Little Night Volleyball

by Etoile2B

After the Beach Party they scheduled a night volleyball game. Devon, one of the Playmakers, organized the group. We decided to split the couples apart so one would be guaranteed to be on the winning team, thus winning more points. It was a blast! We played with the couples we ate dinner with that night and met a couple more after we started the game. Participating in scheduled group activities at an All-Inclusive resort is a great way to meet other people! Just bring yourself and get ready to have a good time. As you can see in the picture I was wearing a skirt!

Runaway Bay

by Joan58

Go to Runaway Bay. Here there is a nice beach with a beautiful sea. The beach is free and there are some stalls that sell food and drink. Here you can sunbathe hearing the music of Bob Marley and meeting local people... who surely will offer you the ganja.

If in Ochio Rios, Get a boat ride!!!

If you are at an inclusive resort, you can group a bunch of people and have a boat come get you. Its about $55 per person US, and they will take you snorkeling, and then to Dunn's River Falls, and then shoping at the top of the Dunn's River Falls, and then they take you on the ocean so you can see the island! The guys on the boat are awesome! They play raggae music as you will experience what the country truly is. Make sure you have your guest front desk person get this for you. Ask them about seeing Dunn's River Falls and being picked up from your dock at your resort. If you get enough people to go, they will pick you up so get about 8-10 people organized!
