Hi, my family and i are planning on being in Jamaica from the 18th October onwards for a holiday. We expect rain however ive been checking out the forecast and it's not looking good. Anyone out there tell me exactly what i can expect?
Well, what's the weather going to be like where you live on the 18th? A little hard to tell, no?
There doesn't seem to be any tropical storm heading that way, so any rain will probably be of the typical torrential downpour variety, which goes like this:
Sunny one minute-rains cats and dogs for a half hour- Back to hot and Sunny again for the rest of the day.
A bit unpredictable. Jamaica just had a major storm that killed nine people. However it looks fairly good considering....

Agree with both posts. Noone can tell you exactly what it will be like a week and a half out(if the can, pls tell me the lottery numbers in nyc for this week.)

Sorry people, i realise it was rather a silly question. Upon checking the 14 day forecast it does appear that there will be rain!! :( Being from Scotland i suppose i should be used to it. At least it wont be cold rain!!
Im getting that there will be sunny spells in between the rain(i can cope with this) I was just a bit concerned to read that there had been some horrible weather conditions in Jamaica recently and was seeking advise. Of course no-one can predict exactly what it will be like, just wondered if this was normal for October?!!!
Hi---just back from 6 days in Negril 2 days after Nicole strolled through the area----Some cliff resorts were closed for repairs---I think I was the only tourist not staying on the beach, where there was also some damage. The rest of the week was wonderful with 2 or 3 rain storms blowing through for an hour or 2----unless you have another storm coming through during your stay, you should have a wonderful time! Make sure and take plenty of insect repellant!

The flowers in Jamaica are so beautiful I couldn't stop taking pictures of them. This is know as Lobster Claw, rather large and colorful plant. Not sure if you will be able to see it, but there is a small lizard on the tip of the top left flower.

To get a taste of real Jamaican life, away from the touristy feel of Mo Bay, check out the tiny town of Zion. It is on a mountain top just above Montego Bay. Have a taxi driver that you trust take you up there. It is quiet and clean, there is the church and a little square there. The people are quiet but friendly. You can have a cold Red Stripe Beer and some jerk chicken as well. Go in the day time. There is a good jerk chicken shack called Scotchies on the way to Zion.
Negril, negril!!!! Go to the Rick's Cafe in Negril. Try to visit the inside of Jamaica, the tropical forests, the crocodiles and most of it: The real native people, groups of people that no one have ever met!! You can take a risk by going to Kingston, the capital of Jamaica, this huge city is popular for its crime, not the great beaches. I would suggest you to visit Montego Bay for a couple of days and after that, head for the smalls city's.
A must see in Montego Bay is a glass bottom boat ride around the reefs just off shore. You can set up to go scuba diving, snorkling or just sit in the boat and enjoy the ride, which ever makes you happy. The trip takes about 1 hour or so and is well worth the trip and lots of fun.
