More about The Wexford Montego Bay

Noisy, but great bargain!

by tpangelinan about Wexford Hotel, Montego Bay Jamaica

Noisy, but the center of action. Great bargain for location, quick to airport, can sit on balcony and get the real feel of how busy 'Mo Bay can be. Not always relaxing.
This place gets great reviews.
We may do a week here in December, 03. Walk across street to Dr. Cave Beach.
Walk to left to buy whatever!
Close to all things Jamaican.
City Life, no quiet.

Taxi vs Transfer

by msfee10

Were staying at the Coco LaPalm which I believe is in Negril. They are charging $50 for roundtrip transfer. My question is this reasonalbe? FK

Re: Taxi vs Transfer

by Odinnthor

Yes it reasonable whether it is a regular transfer or a guaranteed private transfer. Check this page out, and scroll to the bottom for the prices. This of course means transfer from Negril Airport, - NOT Kingston Airport, in which case the price is equal to a givaway.

Travel Tips for Montego Bay

Snorkaling

by niecole

If you don't mind using other persons snorkeling gear you can see some great fish out by the dock.

There are no time limits on how long you can use their snorkeling gear like some resorts I have went to, but I would just bring your own if you have it.

They dip the mouth tubs in blue like water. Not sure what or how good they are cleaned. We used them and didn't have a problem. If you want to bring your own mouth piece and goggles, they have flippers, so no need to pack them.

But they also have goggles and a mouth piece for you to use if you didn't bring your own.

Snorkelling in Mo'Bay

%The weather wasn't what we would call "nice". It was rainy and cloudy, but we were on good mood, and that was enough to have a lot of fun in the Wet ‘n Wild Suncat...
Snorkelling is a wonderful experience, better if you try at the Caribbean Sea. The water was warm despite the nasty weather, and we could see a lot of colourful fish and a small coral reef

A tour to Negril is a great...

by Franberu

A tour to Negril is a great adventure. First, there is a great beach with every activity you're looking for. They make and sells nice hats of green palm leaves. But ther is no doubt that the main event is the sun plunging into the ocean from the terrasse of Rick's Cafe while your sipping a rum punch and takink a dive from the rocks into a deep cristal water just under your feet.
It is the unique place in the country to observe the sundown!

Jammin' in Jamaica

by wilocrek

"What would Bob Marley think?"

I had suchs hopes and dreams for my visit to Jamaica, I dreamed of endless white sand beaches and listening to live reggae bands while I cooled off in the warm still waters. Maybe I should of stayed at a resort instead of in the city of Montego Bay. While most tourist choose to stay at upscale resorts I chose to play like a local and stay in the city (because it was far cheaper) and so instead of enjoying endless beaches at resorts I was "resorted" to mingling on the local strips of sand they call beaches. As for music it would seem reggae went the way of ol Bob Marley himself...dead...because all I heard being played was some of the loudest nastiest rap music this side of Detriot. But on a positive note I was offered drugs...lots and lots of drugs. So it wasn't all bad.... My recommendation? Cough up the money for a nice resort and live the Jamaica that I could only dream of.
