Golden Reef Inn: Even if you don't stay here, eat here

The Golden Reef Inn is a clean and comfortable 9-suite hotel located in the quiet neighborhood of Hato, 2 km North of downtown Kralendijk. The suites are air-conditioned, have kitchens and a little dining area, bedroom and bathroom with warm shower. Each has a back door with an outdoor area where you can rinse and hang gear and clothes. The TV and sitting room has sliding doors that open on to a nice porch with a hammock. There's wireless Internet in the common area. Really everything you could need for a longer stay.

The service was pretty good overall with a few minor challenges. The refrigerator would stop working randomly and we had an issue with the car we rented through them, but I feel like they did their best to solve the problems. Most of the staff members were very helpful, cool and interesting to talk to. I don't think the pool is used anymore but that didn't affect my stay.

A major highlight is the great food prepared by Gibi the chef. This place is laid back, good value, nice people, would definitely stay here again.

Unique Quality: The food is delicious. There's a great breakfast for guests with lots of different choices and fresh fruits. Once a week there is a well-priced and really delicious dinner BBQ buffet for anyone who wants to come, with different BBQ meat and fish, rice, potatoes, salads and flan for dessert.

Casa Iguana: Diving right off of your patio

This rental is the bottom floor of a two story dwelling. Casa Iguana is located on the Southern end of Bonaire, its spectacular reef is shared with private homes and Belmar Apartments. Belmar Divers is directly next door and the tank cage is just steps from your driveway. Belmar Divers is affiliated with Buddy Dive. so you are able to switch out tanks at their drive through as well.
This is a two bedroom, three bathroom home with a spacious kitchen and living room. There is no AC in the living room, but both bedrooms have air. The bedrooms are simple, clean and comfortable.
We cooked many of our meals on the outdoor grill and dined at the outdoor table in the shade. The kitchen had everything we needed except an oven, but there is a cooktop.

Unique Quality: The oceanfront spacious patio and the close proximety of SCUBA tanks is what made this spectacular place to stay in Bonaire. We did several dives right off of our deck nd night dives were fantastic on this unspoiled section of reef.

Bamboo Bali Bonaire: Wonderful time at Bamboo Bali Bonaire!

I booked a room at Bamboo Bali for my girlfriend and I at the suggestion of a friend and all I can say is wow! Bamboo Bali is a small inn decorated with an indonesian flair. It has lots of plants and the owners (Anno, Vera, and Sebastian) have clearly spent a great deal of time decorating their place. There are five rooms available for rent, each with it's own unique style. They are located right across from Captain Don's Habitat which makes it quite convenient to grab a quick bite or take a quick dive off Captain Don's pier.

Our room was similar to a studio with a single room and an attached bathroom. The rooms have A/C during the night (also available during the day for a surcharge but we were never there). They have a small kitchen, fridge, and a coffeemaker so you can fix some meals if you want. Each room is a separate building with it's own porch (sort of like a cabin but nicer). There are rinse tanks and a drying area specifically set up for scuba gear which made cleaning up quite easy each day. Security was good which also made us feel at home (they have a fence around the entire property and were always on the property).

I would highly recommend the Bamboo Bali for couples and people who are looking to have some privacy while on vacation. Anno consistently went out of his way to ensure we had the best possible time while in Bonaire. We will definitely be back! If you go to their website you can see some pictures (http://www.bamboobalibonaire.com).

Unique Quality: Anno and his family were outstanding hosts. Made us feel completely at home. Numerous small touches such as a personalized sign above our room with our names painted on it.

Simply wonderful.

Buddy Dive Resort: Affordable accomodations, great dive staff

Buddy Dive has apartments as well as hotel rooms. On both occasions we stayed in a one bedroom apartment. The apartment is quite spacious with tiles floors (good for wet gear), large living room and kitchen area, a separate bedroom with air conditioning and a bathroom.

Buddy offers breakfast which includes meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, pancakes and eggs cooked to order.

The pool bar offers lunch and will occasionally have specials when you book with 50% off at the pool bar. We took advantage of this when we stayed - otherwise having the kitchen offers opportunity to buy and store lunch fixings.

Unique Quality: Buddy's is one of the better house reefs that we've stayed at. A line from the dock leads you to the reef where you can go either left towards Den Laman or right towards Capt Dons (and the little shipwreck).

Just off the line near the edge of the reef are yellow headed jawfish. You can easily spend an entire dive just trying to photograph these shy little fish. Chat with the divemasters and they can most certainly tell you the nearest frogfish.

Buddy Dive: Catering to Divers

If you are going to Bonaire specifically to dive this is a good place to stay that caters to divers.

On the down side the tile and steps are slippery when wet - so BE CAREFUL!!!

Unique Quality: Buddy Dive has their own fleet of trucks that can be rented for your stay (They had a new fleet as of 2/2008) They also offer unlimited tanks for shore diving and a drive through tank refill service. This will allow you to really dive Bonaire as it should be - from the shore.

Carib Inn: Most relaxed Bonaire Hotel

My wife and I have stayed here 9 times and brought parents and children because we like it so much. Small with only 10 rooms- the best are 7 and 8 which are on second floor and have balconies overlooking ocean- but are very popular so you may have to reserve well in advance. Superb dive masters and very friendly place that has more the feel of a B&B. Quiet! No phones in the rooms, and the office shuts down at 5PM.

Get a hammock: Pick a couple trees

Make sure the trees are good and stout trees, spaced just so...

Unique Quality: You can listen to the sounds of the night, smell whatever's in the air and feel the breeze off the ocean rocking you to sleep.

Happy Holiday Homes: Perfect location

Our nice little 3 room bungalow had everything that we needed plus a nice tereace filled with tropical plants that attracted the birds.
Location is 5- 10 minutes from the airport.

Unique Quality: We had cable TV, air conditioning, stove, fridge, and microwave. There was a nice back terrace that had clothes lines for hanging wet clothes.

Bonaire Inn: Supposed to be the cheapest place on the island

It's a good place to stay for the budget minded traveller. Rooms are basic, but all have aircon and a safe. For an extra 6 US$ you get breakfast served on their nice terrace.
Friendly staff.
