Hotel Kura Hulanda

My husband and I have just returned from a four night stay at the Kura Hulanda in Curacao...what a great experience! The hotel is unbelievable ~ five star service, beautifully decorated rooms, excellent restaurants, perfect location ~ I can't say enough. The museum is remarkable also, and a must for any visitor to Curacao. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit there, and the hotel is what made all the difference. This is the only place to stay if you are visiting this lovely island.
Good place to take a break

The restaurant is situated in a shady courtyard next to the museum. They offer a good range of international dishes and good wines. The service is fast and friendly.
absolutely breathtaking

spent a week at Kura Hulanda in Aug 2004 -- easily the loveliest hotel i have ever stayed in. service was impeccable. only MINOR MINOR complaint was the really confusing A/C. i would recommend this place to anyone. just a sublime experience all around.

We returned to Curacao for our 2nd visit in April 2004, specifically because we had read about the Kura Hulanda and wanted to stay there. The elegant accommodations, beautiful gardens and art, thought-provoking museum, fine restaurants and personable staff are all reasons to go and return to the Hura Kulanda. Kudos to the founder's vision and the exquisite execution of it.
Yes, it is odd to go on a "beach" vacation and not stay by the ocean, but Curacao's best beaches (almost too numerous to mention, but Porto Marie, Playa Lagun and Playa Jeremi are my favorites) are on the north shore, requiring a car from most of Curacao's accommodations anyway. We played at various beaches each day and returned to the comfort of this wonderful hotel every evening.
Besides the restaurants at the hotel, Avalon, Blues and Landhuis Daniel are all fine dining choices.
IMHO, Curacao's beauty is its rich and varied underwater life (plentiful sites for snorkelers and divers), its cultured and gracious people and the Kura Hulanda.
Go there.
Enjoyed every minute

We just returned from an 8 day stay at Kura Hulanda and loved every minute. The architecture, decor and museums were outstanding. Unlike many westernized hotels that are a carbon copy of each other this hotel is unique. We felt like we had our own private beach each day though it is at another location. The food was excellent and the shopping was within easy walking distance of the hotel. Internet access was top notch and they even had WiFi in the lobby! I cannot recommend this hotel enough and the Island of Curacao in general. One caution... it is extremely windy to play golf.
very peaceful and beautiful; good food

We wanted to go the Caribbean and decided on Curacao based on finding Kura Hulanda's website and thinking it looked like a unique hotel. we loved it - the food was great and the entire premises was beautiful - both pools were wonderfully landscaped and very relaxing. never went to their beach - opting instead for the secluded beaches on the north end of the island (which were incredible) - but am sure that if anything like the hotel itself it will be very nice. if you want to avoid the cheesey resorts and instead have a truly unique and relaxing vacation - this is solid choice. will definitely go back and highly recommend to anyone.
A Magical Experience

From the moment we stepped into the lobby at the Kura Hulanda we knew all the research we had done as to where to stay in Curacao was well worth it. As you step through the wrought iron gates into the beautiful hotel grounds and hear the classical music you feel like you are in a serene, magical place. The room we had was beautiful, furnished in hand-carved mahogany, a gorgeous marble bathroom and private balcony that overlooked the wall mural belonging to the museum(a must see). We sampled all the restaurants and loved each one. The staff were friendly, helpful and professional. A low-key hotel, uncrowded, unique and private, with a real European flavour. This was the best vacation my husband and I have ever experienced in 23 years!
Their website provides a great number of photos and information

Hallo Adrian,
I was interested too after that TV broadcast. A search with www.google.com for "Jacob Gelt Dekker" gives some entries. Here is the website about Kura Holanda:

Yes, it was the one with Rik Felderhof. Usually I'm not so fond of his program, but we saw it by chance and found it fascinating.
Groet,
Anna.
