Family Villa in Pleasant Setting
We prefer home/apt-type accommodation that are uncrowded, with benefits of ammenities for kids. Jan Thiel was wonderful for us. The resort is outside of Willemstead on the southeastern end of the island. Some units have full views of the ocean (about 2 blocks away), ours had a "peek-a-boo" view, which was fine as we were there really only in the am and evening. There is an on-site store with the basics and a car rental office.
Unique Quality: The property is quiet and very clean. Our unit, Antigua, had 2 BR, bath, kitchen, lounge area and a wall of french doors to the veranda. The staff is very friendly and helpful, as were most folks on the island. We had free beach access rights to Jan Thiel Beach and Baya Beach. The pool on the resort is nice, but just a pool, no slides, etc., however at Jan Thiel beach there is a small "water-park" play area, which the kids loved. The outdoor restaurant/bar on property was small and intimate and the outdoor Zanzibar restaurant down at the beach (about a 2 block walk) was great as well, for both full meals and take-out snacks and pizza!
