Hotel Casa Consulado: Colorful and Comfortable
This hotel is in a great location—1½ blocks from Central Park. It is a very colorful place! Walls in hallways and public rooms are bright red or blue (bedroom walls are a sedate beige, so the decor won’t keep you up at night.) The hotel has WiFi, AC, a nice pool, and a number of places to sit and relax. Breakfast is included in the room rate. Friendly, helpful staff.
The rooms vary in size and design—mine had an upstairs loft with 2 additional beds; a friend’s room had twin beds and a small outdoor space—but they were all comfortable. I'm not sure of its history, but this is a historic building that has been converted to a hotel.

Hotel Terrasol: Great Hotel
We stayed four days at Hotel Terrasol and it was fantastic! There is 24 hour security and the owners are there 7 days a week all afternoon. The reception has a nice area with a computer with free internet available, as well as wifi. Also, as a bonus, the hotel is non-smoking. The is an ample breakfast, nothing special, but ample with great coffee. They booked several taxis and a tour. The owners speak perfect English and are very warm and friendly and the staff is great and we were even able to have an engaging conversation about economics and politics, which I value when travelling -- after all, one of the perks of travel is the exchange of ideas and opinions about one's own and another's culture.
The front balconies have a view of the street which is both loud, but interesting as I was able to see a funeral procession, horse carts, food vendors and all sorts of other cultural quirks. The back rooms are also nice, but quieter and with large, colorful, orginal paintings.

Hospedaje San Jorge: Really good deal in Granada Nicaragua $10.
This 12 room hotel is very clean and quiet. It has good mattresses and pillows, private baths and several nice balconies and porches to sit and have a cold drink. The entrance is watched 24 hours a day. There is an equipped kitchen guests may use and they sell beer, juice, water and such at grocery store prices. It's in the market area of Granada with lots of neat stuff within walking distance. Rooms have both oscillating ceiling fans and portable tower fans. Some rooms have small refrigerators and refrigerators are available to use if there is not one in your room. The upstairs rooms and patios have a nice view of whatever volcano that is, which is unusual in a downtown hotel. The owner,Jorge, is also the pharmacist and owner of the drugstore on the same property and he is very friendly and helpful.
I travel from Costa Rica to Nicaragua every three months to renew my Visa and have been doing so since 1997. This is easily the best deal I've found. (Except I have to sit outside to smoke) the 3 people with whom I was traveling do the same 3 nights every 90 days thing and they agree.
My room and the single gentleman's room both had one Queen and one single bed and the other two ladies shared a room with two Queen beds.
There is cable TV but no internet.
Again, this is very clean, very comfortable, very pleasant and it's TEN BUCKS.
There is free parking in a locked courtyard.
