La Biosfera Cloud Forest retreat: The loft at falling water

We stayed at La Biosfera cloud Forest retreat in Jinotega, Nicaragua, its 12 manzanas of amazing cloud forest reserve, only 4 kms from Jinotega up the road to Matagalpa.
we rented a beautiful little cabin that sleeps up to 6 people, its right in the middle of the cloud forest, a totally private cabin with a small pool in the garden that is fed by a tiny waterfall. Lots of wildlife, turtles, frogs, hummingbirds and you can hear the howler monkeys in the not too nearby forest. It so beautifully tranquil, a great forest experience. The cabin can only be accessed by the waterfall trail, you need sturdy shoes.
15mins walk behind the cabin is the waterfall and bat cave, take a torch to explore the bat cave, its stunning, if u like bats ha.
I loved staying there, to stay right in a cloud forest reserve is fantastic and the horse trek that we took while we were there was awesome too. he people who run it are super friendly and its great to see somewhere actually in the process of being created. Its run by 2 aussies and an american chick.

They are in the process of building a backpackers lodge which will be finished in sept 09, it will sleep up to 12 people in bunks and hammocks. The long Haul ( backpackers dorm) has amazing views of the surrounding mountains and will be surrounded by landscaped gardens and organic permaculture based gardens.
The philosophy of the owners is to preserve the cloud forest as much as possible while opening it up for people to enjoy and to use eco Technology to build the retreat ( the long haul is built using earth bags, a first in Nicaragua) and become as self sustaining as much as possible.

The best part of the property without a doubt are the views to see the mists rolling in over the top of the mountains is fantastic.
