please help-NEED A REASONABLE HOTEL IN MANAGUA FOR 9/24

hi--
i need a hotel -reasonable and safe-arriving very late monday nite -9/24- to managua for 11 days.
looking for contract NGO or teaching job for 2008. former peace corps volunteer and professor yearns to leave real estate business in usa to get back to my roots in a country like nicaragua.
is managua as dangerous as i read? are airport taxis safe-what color or comoany should i take?
can i chnage money at airport with late arrival? if not, what exchange should i use paying in us $.
any other helpful hints? thanks -jim

Internet Cafes

I love the internet and sometimes wonder how I ever got along without it. I planned my trip to Central America on the internet and while I was there, I emailed home every day to give Karen an update on my trip.
The two Internet Cafes pictured here are the places I stopped to check my email while in Managua. I saw several other Internet cafes. In fact, they just may be as abundant as the cafes which serve food. The cost was less than a dollar an hour and the high speed connections were good. The only challenge was that the Spanish keyboard is a little different than the English one.

"Two Weeks on the Farm"
I spent two weeks in Mangaua, actually just outside the city, on a local farm. It was a wonderful time. The farm was more like a resort. The food was ubelievable and the coffee was awwesome. I would definitely recommend that you drive up to the pineapple farms and purchase pineapples from he locals. They are the best I have ever eaten!
