Cottages: Selva Negra Hotel

We managed to get a room for $35 that actually sleeps 5; a double bed downstairs and three little beds (a la goldilocks) upstairs. There is hot water but it is only lukewarm, it does get cold in the mountains so be prepared for cool showers! See my transport tip on how to get here. There are the apartments where we are staying as well as more expensive chalets dotted around the property all in the German style of architecture, you would hardly believe you were in Nicaragua. The downside is that the beds are uncomfortable and the mattresses very wonky.

Auberge: Selva Negra Hotel

There is a youth hostel on the property as well as all the chalets. The one wall is covered in flags and we were surprised to see the old and new South African flag.
