The prices may vary but not more than 40 USD per person, per night.
This guesthouse is a well kept and quaint house in the town of Bocas. The owner, Heather, is dedicated to the well being of her guests and it shows in every detail of La Veranda. It has six rooms, decorated with love and its open air, common space is a great place to relax and watch the sun set over this secret paradise. Non descript entry off a sand road with huge potholes belies the comforting atmosphere of Angela's deck, restaraunt and bar floating over the water. This place immediately feels like home, especially if you are fortunate enough to engage in conversations with fellow travelers or the friendly staff. Rooms are a bit cramped though pleasantly adorned with dark wood panneling, a/c and showers. Though when we were there (January) the town was often out of water, though it might be raining buckets outside! Small problem. No one else is getting a shower at those times anyway, so just let it go. Basic "deluxe" rooms go for about 45 USD. Easy walk into town and restaraunts without all the noise.

Great location, safe walking anytime of day. Older but well maintained hotel. Not fancy but functional rooms with views. Suites worth the extra money, huge with funky kitchens, private balconies. Noted Italian restaraunt in courtyard. Theme: HotelPrice: US$40-80 » Currency ConverterComparison: more expensive than averageDirections: Banking district

The new part of Panama City can be overwhelming. Start with this older part of the city where the spaces are smaller and the feel is intimate. Staying in Casco Vieja (or Antigua) is a wonderful way to see how Panama City once was. The President's Palace is right around the corner from the hostel and he actually walked by with his entourage as I was taking a leisurely stroll. In a few blocks there are restored homes, great restaurants, friendly squatters, local artists and City Hall. You can see the rest of the city across the bay from the view off the edge of the wall surrounding this part of town.
Paying less than fifteen dollars a night for a clean and tidy room and having internet access free is my idea of good traveling. You can cook in the kitchen downstairs and the desk staff is always courteous and helpful. Safety was no concern and I loved the neighborhood. decent hotel for Panama but not nearly as nice as Country Inn on the Canal. Slow service, ugly little room, tiny pool, lame breakfast and poor value for money.

Best value if you has just a bit of cash to splash. This hotel is a bit out of Panama City in the area called Amador. The hotel has a great pool, restaurant (TGI Fridays), and the BEST views of the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. From the hotel you can walk (if you feel fit) or catch a taxi along the promenade all the way out the the Pacific Ocean entrance to the canal and breakwater where they have tourist shops, plenty of good restaurants, and boats to to you out to the islands.
Great Views. Quiet (out of Panama City). Can see the canal from your bedroom.
