This a new hotel built only a few blocks from Via España and the center of the banking district. Also located next to excellent restaurants and a shopping mall. The room cost only $27.00 single . A restaurant and bar was not busy but the service was good and the food fair to good. The place was clean, the desk staff was polite and 2 internet computers was availble for public use. The big negative was the Air conditioning that I could not control as it was either off (where you cooked) or on where you froze!° The nobs had been removed from all the airconditioning units which made the place hell. The off/on switch was downstairs near the desk. Opening the windows wide open while the airconditioning was on was the only control available.
The second most offensive part of my stay was the Taxi hustlers who tried to get the guests to hire them and their cab where they charged 4 to 5 times the going rate. Also most of the same Taxi drivers who hung around the front door were pimps trying to sell the services of their ¨putan¨.

Great staff, very knowledgeable about Panama City and the broader region. Simple, clean, breezy rooms. Rooms have A/C, but it's not necessary. For an old Zonian like myself, it was like staying at my parent's house on a return trip after moving away for college. Quiet and peaceful location in Quarry Heights, near the top of Ancon Hill (now properly known in Spanish as Cerro Ancon, of course, but old habits die hard).
An abundance of wild animals come to visit the bird feeders and bananas hung from the trees, including tamarins, possums, tanagers, a caracal, and a plethora of nequis. There's a sloth living in the tree just off the balcony where breakfast is served. The best area to stay in is El Cangrejo. There are a wide selection of restaurants, laundries, internet cafes, casinos, and shops. For a suite about 60 dollars try The Hotel Torres de Alba, it is new, clean and convenient. The Las Vegas suites across the street is nice too, not as costly but very noisy. Down the same street are some great restaurants and hotels that are good but less expensive: Milan, Marbella, Crystal Suites. It is a good area to be in. For more upscale lodging go to any of the International places.

Basic, clean well situated hotel. Breakfast and wonderful cafe latte included!
Walk to many local restaurants. Taxis drive by. Laundry down the street. Cheap and great.

This hotel is a small, clean well run establishment with competent friendly staff. Two nice young ladies called "Mitzi " and "Tamara:" gave me invaluable advice on travel within Panama. The attached restaurant has good selection of Panamanian and North American food at reasonable prices.
It has an excellent location only one block from via espana in the center of the banking district, a pool, a restaurant, and internet computers available for the guests. This hotel was a great value at $139 per night including a full breakfast buffet each morning. The king size room was large with a chair and a desk with internet access. The hotel it very new. It is located adjacent to one of the largest shopping malls we have ever seen. This is saying somehing since we live in the same city as the Mall of America. Other similar hotels were over $200. If you are in Panama City, we recommend the Courtyard. June 2008

Rooms were clean and cool (temperature wise) but I would recommend trying to get one closer to the beach area instead of up in the hills. Especially if you have mobility problems (and not from the drink I mean) it can be quite an walk. If you forget something in your room, you will either forget about it or build up the courage to walk the hill or stairs back up. Have had friends go back since I've been and they mentioned that they are expanding huge so try to inquire where you will be situated first. The only other thing I didn't enjoy was the ride to get to paradise! About 90 minutes on a bus over a VERY bumpy road area. Icky!!!!
Food was excellent for a beach destination. The great part is they had 6 a la carte restaurants and I thought the best was Sushi Sambe (Japanese if you can't guess already). The best pool area with a bar close and not very busy was definitely the one located "up-top" beside Sushi Samba restaurant Also, disco's be damned! Hit the Nega Nega (beach bar) and see if the 2 guys singing with their guitars are still there as not only did they sing in English but you could shout our requests and they would play them (with a slight Panamanian accent of course). Can anyone say "you're my boy Blue, you're my boy." Golf Course - The Mantaraya Golf course was just finishing the back 9 when we were there but if it is anything like the front 9, I can't wait to go back. Maybe the other best part was some of the people we met owned a condo on the course and met us on #5 with Caesers! Nothing better than playing golf while on holiday with a Canadian Caeser in your hand at 8:00am!

The room I rented had good AC, a small fridge, a coffee maker. It was clean and quiet and the front desk was helpfull with most of the people I met spoke some English. They had a computer that allowed me to send out email. The cost was $33.00 There is a restaurant in the hotel but I soon found other better restaurants closeby.

Well, for US$8, you get a small quadrant with a nice sized bed and a fan. The door has a lock that can be opened by key and a bolt lock that does not align with the door frame, so, you need to pinch your bed against the door to sleep with security. Water runs out in the early morning but there is nothing wrong with an old ice cream scoop bucket wash with water, actually feels great. Get out of there, head down to Yaviza for US$20 in taxi and go where the Pan-American highway ends in Panama. Great little town, don't mind the stares. Enjoy...
