Sunday hours
by vtdanny
Stores and restaurants open on Sundays , generally. However, most of them that open on that day operate on shorter hours.
Stores close at 5 PM mostly Sunday. We were shocked to find the bar at Hotel Iris closed for almost the whole Sunday, even a restaurant at one other hotel closed totally that day.
Plan ahead.
Internet cafe
by vtdanny
There is a bunch of internet cafe located in the area close to Hotel Puerto del sol. Usually 75 cents per hour, fast high speed connections unlike those in Costa Rica . All with AC.
Puerto Del Sol, where we spent a few nights, has its own freebee WIFI for it's guest. Free one hour per room per day.
Gran Hotel Nacional, where we also spent some time there, has it's WIFI available in the lobby, as well as it's own business centre.
Indian population
by kyoub
Several dozen Indian tribes lived in the region when the Spaniards' arrived, but only seven of these still exist today.
There is the Kuna, the Ngobe-Bbugle' (Guaymis), the Embera, the Wounaan, the Bokata, the Bribri, and the Teribe (Naso).
Some live in dwellings like in the picture, some live on a reservation. Some are farmers and others live on the sea.
The beach
by kyoub
Playa Las Lajas is 62 km from David. It is one of several palm-lined beaches along this area of the Pacific coast.
It makes a great outing for the day but there isn't much in the way of lodging nearby.
If you go during the week, you will probably have it all to yourself. We saw one lone surfer.
