Some Thoughts about Las Olas

I haven't been to Las Olas, and won't directly defend the negative criticisms in these pages, I help run a resort on the Pacific in Los Santos Province and would like to say that in Panama, if it rains during dry season, all the bugs come out at once. They are very hard to manage and keep out of the way of guests, so they are not being annoyed by insects. The criticisms of the people about Los Olas' bug issue could be referring to this very thing happening. If one is not used to a certain area, things can happen that are difficult to resolve at the moment, not necessarily the staff being lazy or unattentive. And if they sprayed, then the guest would complain about the odor of the insecticide, so the resort loses no matter what they do. I think some of the critcisms leveled at Los Olas seem harsh and exaggerated. I doubt they would go a year without cleaning a table in the restaurant! Sometimes gringos think everything has to be pristine and pretty all the time, as in the USA. This can not always be the case in a foreign country. Some North Americans need to be a little more open-minded and not so picky about everything. If you want it to be a certain way, then stay in the USA where you can have your way all the time! Just sayin'...
As far as the lack of decorations, in Panama in the early months of the year, especially, it is very windy, wall decorations will be knocked off the walls and break or be wind-damaged, that is why there is a lack of decorations on the walls at Las Olas, we have the same issue at our resort. We had to remove most decorations because the wind was taking everything off the walls, in our climate, you can't keep every thing closed up all the time. Then the guests complain about the humidity and mustiness. So do you want a nice, airy room and common areas or dank, dampness and pretty art on the walls? Las Olas isn't being stingy, they are using common sense not to waste money on things that will get damaged, and are hazardous. Suppose the wind blows something off the wall and hits a guest and injures them? Then they have a lawsuit as well!
Again lack of knowledge of the area visited. Please, travelers take local things into consideration before you go off making harsh criticisms!
