Stay here only if you plan to be out all day

This hotel is pleasant with a beautiful view of the canal. Only one MAJOR problem--the construction noise in our room was ear-splitting. It starts early in the morning and does not end until 1700. So if you plan to be out all day, its a nice place for the view, but if you decide to take a nap in preparation for evening activities, you will need to stay else where. The manager was wonderful and even provided us with an up-graded room. The only problem was, the noise was no less jarring. It is sad because I would have enjoyed it otherwise. The only other disappointments were the floor tiles which were chipped and dirty looking, and the bathroom tub leaked.

Unique Quality: The view of the Panama canal, and a very nice breakfast considering it is advertised as "continental" but is actually much more with hot foods, and reasonable variety. Also, they change it up every day so there is something new to try for your first meal of the day.

Best Place to Start and or End your stay in Panama

This is the best 1 night stay in Panama City. Right on the Panama Canal with a view of the "Bridge of the Americas". Easy to get to by Taxi or Rental Car. Make sure that you pay the extra $10.00 US for the Canal View.

If you get one of the rooms that has the Big tree if front of your balcony you are in for an added bonus. Their are very Large Iguanas in the Tree as well as lots of birds. Perfect start to a great vacation.

The staff are very helpful and speak wonderful English.

Tip: Bring a flash light with you.

You get free breakfast with each nights stay.

For a real treat. about an hour before sunset. Walk over to the Balboa Yacht Club. Funky local hang out that is less than a 1/4 mile from the hotel for the coldest beers best popcorn and the best sunset of your stay in panama.

Do not let the looks of the place scare you away. The place burnt down about 5 years ago but in true Panama tradition they have erected a great stand alone bar with a cover over head and a mobile food truck has been place at the sight (they serve mostly fried food)

This is a great place to meet world travelers that either have just transited the Panama Canal or who are waiting their turn to go to the Atlantic from the Pacific. If you are looking for a day of adventure take a look at the message board, you can find a one day job assisting boaters get thru the canal as a line handler, if you want to go thru the locks with out having to pay $100+ for the tourist attraction. You will have to take a taxi from the Atlantic side back to the pacific, about $30. For warned that the road from the Atlantic to the Pacific is about 80 Km full of Tire eater pot holes. just ask the taxi driver to slow down.

This is also a perfect spot to unwind after your travels to Panama City from other parts of the world.

This hotel rates about 3 to 3 1/2 stars in us standards. but do not let that stop you from staying here.
