Tocumen - Panama City Transfer

by bpwarne

Have perused the tips section and all posting re this subject are quite old. Can anyone tell me the going rate for a Taxi and or recommend a driver? Will be arriving in the evening, about 10:30PM. Thanks, Bob & Patty

I was there in february and the going rate was 25 usd it is a fixed rate of sorts ? but once you get in the city 5bucks will take you most anywhere. and you don't have to tip.. just ask the price before you get in the taxi.

Travel Tips for Panamá City

Getting around in Panama City

by VikeGuru

It is imperative that you learn Spanish if you plan to go out and about in the city. A few people know english and you might get by without spanish but if you at least learn some general terms, that would help you big time.

The place to run here in Panama City is the Amador Causeway. Start either at the Country Inn Hotel at the base of the Puente de las Americas or out on Flamenco Island. The course is four kilometers one way. The great views will help you forget your plodding speed brought on by the torpid heat. We increased the length of the run by a few kilometers, running from our bed and breakfast on Ancon Hill, La Estancia. The 190 stairs beneath the Canal Administration Building are a great way to really finish yourself off! Running shoes, glasses for the sun, a hat and clothes you can wash afterwards!

Sailing to Panama

by alza

I can highly recommend Peter Rippingale, skipper of the Golden Eagle, to sail from Panama to Colombia, or vice-versa. Details will follow as soon as possible, but for now, I can say that Peter is experienced, dependable, professional, fun-loving, and sails a great yacht. I felt totally safe during the 4-day trip from Portobello, Panama to Cartagena, Colombia, even with rough seas and strong winds from the San Blas to Cartagena for 23 hours non-stop. The whole voyage was unforgettable and fun, with great backpackers on board and a good cook too.
If you're in Cartagena, you'll probably find info on the Golden Eagle's itinerary or where to get in touch with Peter at the Hostel Viena in Getsemani. (I'm not staying there, I prefer El Centro Historico nearby. But I know Peter left a flyer at the Viena.)
If you're in Panama City, la Casa de Carmen in El Carmen barrio can put you in touch with him.

Restaurante in Panama city,Panama

by sfphototraveller about TAJ MAHAL

I ate at the Taj Mahal restaurante in Panama city,Panama.
I ordered the Appetizer plate mix= $ 8.95 It came with fish and other oven cooked items. I used some of the sauce on it and it was very hot=spicey. I also ordered the Biryani De Cordero =Lamb $ 16.95 it came with rice & peanuts and 2 hardboiled egss sliced in half placed on top of the rice. The Lamb was tender and moist and good.
When it got cold seem to dry out a bit since there oven cooked.
And a coke for $ 1.75
It was around 7PM on a Friday night and 4 other tables were being occupied. But still seem empty.

I was full and could not finish my meal. They also had a big screen TV on an LG 42 or 46 inch LCD.
After i paid they said they can provide transportation Free-but i declined because my Apartment was only 2 blocks away.
