by bilgeez about Royal Casino in the Marriott Bancaria
There is no shortage of Casinos in Panama City. Near the Bancaria Area, there are at least six, At Hotels El Panama, Continental, Veneto, Marriott, also the Bingo 90 and Fiesta at Multicentro Mall on Ave. Balboa. One of the cleanest and with the best service I have found is the Royal Casino attached to the Marriott in the Bancaria in Panama City. They have a cheap prix fixe lunch for just $2.99 weekdays, it has sancocho chicken soup, chicken with rice and some meat dish, dessert and coffee, tea or a soft drink. They also have dinners and weekend brunch there from $3.99. They have an ample supply of slots and live table games. Something I dare you to find in the States anymore, $2 Blackjack tables! Gai Pow and Texas Hold´em poker and Caribbean 21, as well as craps and roulette. The staff is usually friendly and if you order a drink at the machines or tables you don´t have to wait forever to get your order! It is not as big as some other Casinos in the area, the Veneto or the Fiesta at Hotel El Panama or Multicentro, but it is friendlier and offers much better service. I would not dress like a slob, but I have gone in with shorts and sandals and they haven´t bothered me.
Buffet Grande!
by bilgeez about Flamingo's
Flamingo's is located in Hotel El Panama in the Cangrejo district of Panama City. The restraurant is open 24/7, but has a serious lunch buffet, every day for $22 per person. You can eat all you want and it includes one soft drink, coctail or beer, and all the coffee, tea or water you want.
The buffet is available from noon to three, at other times the restaurant offers pretty much the same as the buffet on the menu at ala carte or three- or four-course meal prices.
The bargain is to get the lunch buffet, you can easily spend the buffet price, per person, on the regular menu.
The room itself is very pleasant with food along one wall and windows open to the outside on the other. It is a very bright and airy environment, and with the hotel facing south, the restaurant is in shade at lunch time. So one will not have sun in their face in the dining room. The restraurant is also open to the pool for even more visual stimulation. The Buffet is the reason to come here. If you want to pig, pig, pig out, on a wide variety of food and try some things you may not have had before, this is the place to do it!
The quality is superb, the variety is overwhelming. There are at least six choices of all courses of a meal from appetizers through dessert. There is at least one Panamanian dish in each course selection, so you can try on Panamanian food without fear and if you don't like it, you won't be out anything, just go choose something more to your liking. Their buffet includes a taco stand and carved-to-order meat and a sandwich board. Nothing is overlooked.
The service is fine, of course, it is self-serve at the buffet, but as soon as your plate is empty, it is whisked away, so no clutter on the table. Waitstaff is always roving to refill water or coffee.
I love to come here to celebrate special occasions, after you try it, you will, too!

by fraga
Hi There!
Any advices on the best restaurants in PC...?
From what I've read I already selected:
- Manolo Caracol
- Barandas Restaurant
- La Posta
- Cafe Barko
- Madame Chang's
I don't have preference for any kind of food, I just want good restaurants overall
Do you agree? Would you recommend any other...?
Thanks!

At Hotel El Panama, they have an unbelieveable lunch buffet every day from 12-3. It's $22 per person, but they have such a variety I dare you to try everything! Manolo is over-priced for what you get, I would go to Pollo Pelau, a couple blocks away on Via Espana They have much the same food for about half the price. It's not fancy, but it's GOOD and it is more Typical Panamanian food. The others, I haven't tried. for Asian, Golden Unicorn in the Evergreen building behind ATLAPA is very good and not that expensive. Look at my restaurant tips in my travel pages. I got about a dozen restaurants in PC I wrote up.
