This beautiful Panamean house is situated in the Carmen barrio, safe and pleasant to explore. It's an easy walk to the Centre and to the many sights in this fantastic city. And taxis here are very very affordable -- I paid USD1 for a rather long ride from the Main Bus Terminal to here.
They have dorms with bath at $10 (also private rooms) that include all services, ventilators, air-conditioning, breakfast, coffee and tea all day, well-equipped and beautiful kitchen, laundry room, a very relaxing tropical garden with hamacs, books everywhere, free high-speed internet that I seem to be the only one to use, HOT water, luggage deposit, parking. Oh and a TV room with ultra comfortable monster chairs, coffee tables filled with reading material. Everything you might need.
This is way better than a hotel! I just met my dorm mate and a guy from Costa Rica and both have invited me to visit them in their countries when I come back to Central America. The ambiance here is relaxing and friendly, and it seems that La Casa de Carmen is the place of choice for young travellers from other Central and South American countries. So I can keep practicing my Spanish!
Everything is spotless by the way. And the reception is excellent, with great advice for things to do all over Panama. The pic is not of Casa Carmen but of a stunning wooden building in Casco Viejo, the old part of town.
