The hotel is breathtakingly beautiful and the amenities are excellent. Service ranged from fantastic to sullen and unhelpful. It depended very much on the person. Our room was comfortable and well appointed, though the bathroom was unventilated and always smelled slightly moldy. Housekeeping did a fantastic job every *other* day, so I suspect individual staff members again varied a great deal. Be aware that the hotel and everything in it is expensive and you will likely spend more than you intend on small things that you charge to your room card. Also, the hotel is such a huge, self-contained unit, complete with its own nightlife that you will find it hard to leave, especially without a car. Word on the street warns against the guided tours. We didn't go on any, and the concierge did try for some semi-hard sells when we asked about shopping in Old San Juan and rainforest hiking. Apparently, those who did go on the tours found them dreadful.
Amazing, amazing pools, very shallow with no lifeguards. But they're open all night. The spa is rumored to be excellent as well, but we didn't try it.
This property is undergoing major renovations, Oct 2007.
I've included this report to post a picture of the Coqui Water Park, under construction so that you can judge the scale of the feature.
In my personal opinion, this is a young children's style attraction. It will be a great place for parents to take young kids. But, teens will be bored.
