EL PRADO INN: EL PRADO INN
US$49++/night, single bed, private bath, aircon, cable TV, incl. continental breakfast (actually it's only corn flakes, coffee and orange juice)
This hotel is the cheapest I could get (uh well, I'm only a backpacker). It has only 22 rooms with Spanish style, a swimming pool, friendly staff, and good location (though room is so small!)

We stayed at At Wind Chimes...
We stayed at At Wind Chimes Inn (53 Calle Taft, San Juan, PR 00911, USA), a restored Spanish Villa a couple of blocks from a great beach (Condado).
$55 - $85/ U.S. Some sites give higher prices so we might have gotten 'low season' rates. For the quality, the price is definitely low.
The 12 (14?) rooms are small but very pleasant and decorated in an airy tropical motif with original artwork or good reproductions. All have their own baths, TVs (with CNN) and are cooled by airconditioners and fans. Our queensize bed was $75; a king was $85. There is a small but nice, sheltered pool. The complimentary breakfast (just dry cereal and fruit juice but the Puerto Rican coffee is good) is served on a wonderful covered terrace surrounded by windchimes. Another deck above the pool is great for sunbathing. The people are very nice and speak English and Spanish. We only saw heterosexual couples and families there when we visited but the inn is listed as 'gay friendly.' I think it's probably just friendly, period.

We stayed at several different places but really enjoyed the Normandie just outside of old San Juan. It has lots of character and charm and very convenient to everything.

I stayed at the 'Sea Grapes...
I stayed at the 'Sea Grapes Inn', which is situated in the Ocean Park area of San Juan, which makes it, a convenient location for the beach and the city.
About $60.00 a day, not bad, considering its location.
Right in front of the beach, it was great staying there during the 4th of July, and watch the fireworks!
