Found this place through its website and it's fantastic. I had ocean front room. Free wi-fi. Free breakfast. Ocean and beach is about 50 feet away. People were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent. I had planned to check out and stay in Fajardo, but after one night, I checked out and went back to Luquillo. Really nice.
Unique Quality: Balcony looks out on beach and ocean. Free wi-fi. Free breakfast.
This hotel has been closed for 2 years. We ended up at the Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn (787 - 889- 1713).
No pool, no kitchens but very clean and free breakfast. It's new with only 15 rooms and across road from the beach. They had a free nature walk and we saw some turtle nests. We liked this hotel.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn. The BEST hotel view from any place I’ve been! The rooms were kept very clean, the service was excellent, the breakfast was abundant, tasty with good variety and serviced with a smile. The Inn was personable; we didn't feel overwhelmed with touristy stuff, but rather very much part of the seen. We felt safe and well informed of the local way. Information of places to visit and things to attend was readily available and up to date. Beach chairs and towels were provided...nice touch, and other beach amenities available for rental. All staff were so friendly and accommodating!
I would definitely recommend this place!!!
My two daughters and I spent one night at the Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn after visiting the rain forest. If we had not already had each day of our vacation arranged, we would have stayed several more days. The location is perfect! Right across a small street from the ocean.
The innkeeper directed us to a safer beach just a short stroll away. There was a reef there and no danger of under currents. There was a wide beach studded with beautiful palm trees. And an ice cream truck comes right by. What convience! And the Inn furnishes beach chairs and towels.
The innkeeper told us where the good restaurants were, gave us a key to get back in the parking lot which they lock at night. They also gave us a key to the locked cupboard in our room.
The breakfast the next day was great -- french toast served on a wonderful upstairs roofed terrace. There was also the usual continental breakfast items available.
Wew all enjoyed our stay and would love to go there again.
Our kids are 18, 16, and 14. We were extremely pleased with our stay at the Luquillo Sunrise Beach Inn. We booked 3 rooms, which were clean, comfortable, and all had a teriffic ocean view from the balcony. Every staff member was courteous, polite, spoke english, and made you feel as if you were at home. We stayed 6 days and started each morning with a free hot breakfast: (scrambled eggs and potatoes, bananna waffles and bacon, breakfast burritos, french toast and fruit, etc. )
Sherry, the General Manager and Demian, the concierge were very helpful and had plenty of suggestions for activities. Here are some of the things we did: (walked the beach to view the turtle nesting areas...free, 2 hour surfing lessons for the kids...$60 for the first person and $30 for each additional person, snorkeling at Seven Seas Beach in Fajardo 10 minutes away...$12 per person for all day rental of masks, snorkel, and fins from a dive shop in Fajardo, Bioluminescent Kayak Tour in Fajardo through Enchanted Eco Tours was....$52 per person, on our own we booked a private tour guide for El Yunque rain forest....$35 per person for 5 hours...He was the perfect guide...Tony Sanchez with Island Tours.
We rented a car (Budget) in San Juan and I would highly suggest you have a car. Within 5-10 minutes from the hotel you will find many modern conveniences should you need them: Wal-Mart, Walgreens, Amigos grocery store, McDonalds, KFC/Taco Bell, and Subway. Here are some of the places we ate and an idea of prices: (the kiosks on the beach...$5 per person, The Brass Cactus...$14 per person including tip, Taco Maker...$6 per person, Wing Brothers Japanese hibachi...$20 per person including tip, McDonalds...$5 per person, Williams Pizza...$5 per person, Brisas Del Verde at the corner of 186 and 3...$5 per person, and Lolitas Mexican...$13 per person.
While we were at the Sunrise the owners, Gary and Marsha, were there. You only need to meet them to understand why their hotel is a great place to stay. We had initial reservations about the Sunrise not having a swimming pool, seeing how we had teens, but they honestly didn't miss it at all. We did stay at a San Juan resort the first night of our trip and are extremely happy we chose to spend the majority of our trip at the Sunrise in Luquillo.
The staff was accommodating and pleasant. The room was great with a view, not to mention immacculately clean. The morning breakfast was a bonus that was convenient and delicious. Did I mention that the beach was in front of the hotel and was fabulous. I could go on...the stay was absolutely unforgetable.
A mere 75 yards from the surf of the Atlantic, this lovely place suited our needs perfectly. Close enough to San Juan and the north-east coast, yet none of the congestion associated with them.
The view from the balcony is breathtaking, the palm trees, the sand, the distant hills all delightful!
The room itself was spacious enough, clean and well kept. A sufficient amount of towels were always available.
Breakfast is served on a lovely canopied terrace and consists of whatever the kitchen staff has prepared to your liking. Also available is breakfast cereals, fresh fruit platters, breads and an unlimited amount of coffee. Beach towels as well as beach chairs are there free of charge. The staff is very courteous, helpful and knowlegable about all the nearby activities and restaurants.
Most reassuring is the fact that your car is parked in an enclosed secure area.
All and all a great place to be and we intent to return when visiting Puerto Rico.
Arrived very late at night a group of 16 persons with no problem. Rooms were very clean and spacious and is a new building. They have a nice size TV, coffee maker and air condition.
The view from the terrace on the second floor is great and also if you want just to read a book and rest. Breakfast is good for the price you pay.
Employees are friendly and helpful.
I highly recommended and I believe the price is right for Puerto Rico that is an expensive place.
We stayed for five nights at the Luquillo Sunrise. Out of all the hotels we stayed at (4 in a two week period), this was by far the best! The hotel was just opened in January 2007 and we felt it couldn't have been better! The receptionists are mostly American and/or speak impeccable English. They were VERY helpful whenever we asked for directions, advice, or simply for shooting the breeze. For any major landmark, they have maps to show you how to get there (e.g. El Yunque Rainforest, Fajardo, biolumenescent bay). A hot and cold breakfast was included (hot breakfast is optional, and i hear that soon they will charge for that...delicious food! well worth it!!). The rooms are VERY clean and very cute. Every room has an oceanfront view, and the beach is just across the street. I would recommend a room on the far side of the building (away from the reception) for a better view. Luquillo is also a very central location to do many activities and visit a lot of sites. We couldn't have enjoyed our stay more! If visiting Puerto Rico, you should make the Luquillo Sunrise a DEFINITE in your itinerary!
