Wyndham Condado Plaza Hotel and Casino: Very Customer Service Oriented

My husband and I stayed at the Condado Wyndham for 9 days. Excellent service for the entire stay. Restaurants within the hotel were nice with the exception of Tony Roma's (not my favorite anywhere), and Mandolay, the Asian restaurant. Mandolay was underwhelming and over priced. The Italian family restaurant was excellent with excellent service. My only slightly negative comment about the hotel is it has been gently worn. They are about to begin a major redecorating project and it will make a huge difference. Our room was quite nice with a beautiful ocean view. It was quite clean and fresh.

Excellent pools and pool areas... 2 fresh water, 2 whirlpool spas and 1 salt water pool. Beautiful pool deck area and access to small public beach. Beautiful sunsets.

NOTE** if you are over 50 years... we got great nightly rate from AARP... also Costco if you are a member

At Wind Chimes Inn (1750 Mcleary Ave Corner Taft.): Nickel and Dime Time Inn

In a nutshell, this inn was not worth the $200 a night rate (May 2007- $160 for memorial day holiday rates with $40 in taxes per day! - one room with 2 double beds). You are nickel and dimed for EVERYTHING. The Spanish villa architecture and decor are very quaint, the room we had was large, and the staff was friendly, but for $200 a night you shouldn't have to pay $10 a night for a parking space, .50 cents for the first minute of local calls and .10 a minute thereafter, a fee for beach chairs, an expected tip for the maid, a small fridge that wasn't cold enough to use, a tiny bathroom that you have to squeeze into, and very high prices for bad food and drinks at the bar. Their claim of "gourmet food" consisted of luke warm milk over store-bought granola, old mixed fruit, 2 day old muffins, and bitter coffee. It's also important to note that this inn faces a very busy street with nothing to buffer the traffic noise. There is constant loud traffic throughout the night. On 2 occasions, I awoke to what sounded like a semi about to ram into our room. Lastly, there is a pool, but it is very small and squeezed into too small of an area.

On the positive side, free wi-fi is available and the ocean is a block away (Condado Beach).
