San Juan Marriott Resort and Stellaris Casino

Their cheapest room is about $180/night.

This hotel is everything you can expect from the Marriot hotel chain. The room was very nicely decorated and I always love a marble bathroom. The bed . . . THE BED! It was easily the most comfortable bed I've ever slept in. Sigh. . . In the lobby at night, there is musical entertainment and the casino goes non-stop. The Marriot is on Candado Beach, so no need to bring your beach towel - you can get one at the activity center. Lounge chairs and umbrellas are also available. In addition to the beach, there is a sizable pool with a water slide. Unfortunately, we did not get a chance to try the pool bar or the restaurant on the patio.

This is quite basic really but iff you just want a place to crash after a day of beach and dancing salsa and don't plan of using the common ammenities of modern hotels this is perfect for you. It's just a block away from the beach, in the middle of action but at the same time on a very nice relaxed lateral street. The property has a very nice patio full of tropical trees, a fountain and a big cage with a talking parrot (so please watch your language!!). Guest could take a book from the library and enjoy it under a tree.

I like to recommend friends try the Casa Caribe Guesthouse
Last time I checked the average high season rate was about $75, plus taxes

Casa Caribe is a small (15 roooms?) place but very well located and on a quiet street. It offers a modest breakfast included in the room rate and is a secure one story building in its own tropical garden. The owners are relaxed and open, and their are few 'house rules.'

Best Western Hotel or Ritz Carlton Casino.
Quite expensive, but you can find lot of good hotel for $80-$140.00 in San Juan or Isla Verde.

Hotel Best Western (De Diego avenue is very for a good price)
depending of your choice, period and size...
BEST WESTERN: $80-$140
RITZ: $250-$1500.00

RITZ: good hotel just in front of beach, with all services; beautiful swimming pool and casino.

BEST WESTERN and RITZ: The staff is very kind, good swimming pool, good restaurant and bkfast.

Marriott San Juan Hotel and Casino

The Marriott has a nice beach area and is within walking distance to many restaurants and a few shops. There are two tennis courts and the area is great for running with a path along Ashford.

We stayed at the Normandie which may not be for everyone. It is an elegant older hotel with nice amenities but rather formal and low key. The pool was nice but the ocean did not look very inviting-almost dirty. It may have been the time because most people were in and having a great time searching for some sea horses that wer around the area.
Ours was not too expensive because it was a deal which I think you can find if you look.

Hyatt Regency Cerromar Beach Resort & Casino

Has an extremely 'tropical' feel to the property. All rooms have an ocean view. The property has a 'lazy river', outdoor jacuzzi's, pools,, and private beach. Has shuttles to/from Old San Juan and the airport.

Nice hotel area, Got the best lobby with 3 bar's, Big Casino and, nice Disco called Babilonia. I recomment to visit the disco on thursday nigth.
