Low budget, clean (although rough), heart of OSJ!
I planned this trip 2 days in advance due to an expiring airline credit and a friend of mine recommended staying here as a good budget option. For the 1st five minutes, and as a woman traveling alone, I wasn't sure I could stay, think: NY's tenement museum/ Spanish style. I took a balcony room ($250 for 8 nights) and it is a cool balcony and outfitted with a wood bar to go across the doors (and an attached whistle?)
Room has a fridge, a bed, a futon, a lamp with no shade and a curtain covering the door to the next room. Which is vaguely securely locked.
The owner and his sweet elderly father are very friendly and accommodating, but remember: it's rustic. So far so good, supermercado up the street for all your needs, in the heart of EVERYTHING Old SJ has to offer.
Unique Quality: Get a balcony room.
