Loved the location, room and balcony!

I have to say, I was surprised to read so many negative online reviews about this hotel because we had a great experience at the Condado Plaza. From check in to check out, the staff was nice, helpful and attentive. Our room was really nice and comfortable, and we loved hanging out on the balcony at night and enjoy the wonderful view of the Condado lagoon. There are 3 swimming pools and a jacuzzi - our favourite was the saltwater pool since it was deep and pretty quiet. There is also a small beach which we thought was really nice - some might think it's too small, but we're not really beach people so we were happy just to be able to swim in the sea a few steps away from the hotel.

Other than that, we tried 2 of the hotel's 5 restaurants: we stopped by the Eight Noodle Bar for some Chinese takeout - one dish was sufficient to feed two people and it was excellent. We also had dinner at the Cafe Caribe one evening and I'd strongly recommend the asopao de pollo, a local dish that's like a cross between a soup and a paella - it was delicious! We also booked two tours through the hotel's concierge. Both tours were great, they picked us up on time and were very professional, and the prices matched what I'd seen online.

Finally, I'd say the best thing about the Condado Plaza is its location. We ended up walking to and from Old San Juan - it was an easy and very enjoyable 45 minute walk along the sea. For those who'd rather not walk, there are plenty of taxis around and there's also a bus stop right next to the hotel. At night, we very much enjoyed the atmosphere along Ashford Avenue: there were some really nice restaurants and plenty of places to stop by for a drink. For all these reasons, I'd probably stay at the Condado Plaza again next time I'm in San Juan.

Unique Quality: Our room had a safe, a mini-fridge (so we bought beer at one of the markets on Ashford Ave.), free wireless internet, and great products in the bathroom. There is a huge open-spaced lounge next to the lobby area and a convenience store. There is also a casino (which was surprisingly popular) and a Starbucks.

Nice property

Unique Quality: It was wonderful to open our door and listen to the waves crashing into the shore all night, as well as sit on the patio and watch the cruise ships and fishing boats come and go

GREAT VIEWS

We did not stay here, but I heard there were fantastic views of San Juan from this Hotel along with a 24-hour Casino. They also offer five restaurants and many gift shops.

Wyndham Condado Plaza

by A TripAdvisor Member

The Wyndham Condado Plaza turned out to be an excellent family hotel for our recent visit to San Juan. The pool complex was very kid friendly and the service was excellent. There was a Sponge Bob two hour party held twice weekly for the kids as well. Our eight year old much enjoyed his stay. Our oceanfront room was clean and spacious with a lovely welcome basket on our arrival (tip - join Wyndham by Request for special perks here). Our only complaint - the beach was a small public one, and not very clean. The bus to Old San Juan stops in front of the hotel and costs a mere 25 cents - very convenient.

Rejency hotel

by liqdstar

DUring my first visit, we stayed at the Condado beach area. It's a very busy area, and the beach isn't that nice. During the second trip, we stayed in Vieques which was much much nicer...but if you do stay at Condado, the Rejency is a nice choice. Its a simple hotel, so its fairly cheap, but the good news is that you can use all the facilities of the next door, more frills hotel, the Condado Plaza!

The rooms are clean and spacious, and the staff is incredibly nice. THe pool is very small...but no worries! Go next door to the Condado plaza and use one of their 3 pools!! CHeaper than the other Condado hotels.

We stayed in the Condado beach...

We stayed in the Condado beach area, where many tourists stay. For grocery shopping, we went to 'Pueblos', a big supermarket nearby. You can take busses from the main street to old San Juan and to the big shopping mall ‘Plaza Las Americas’.

Condado Hotel

by ceswho about Condado Hotel

We stayed in this hotel because it is close to the airport. They have a casino in case the weather won't permit you to go anywhere. We where lucky on the trip, apparently it rained for 18 days prior to our arrival, in fact it rained on the day we arrived and the airport was flooded. But the following days where mostly sunny and occasional showers.
This hotel disappoint me, the first room the ceiling had a leak. The staff does not seem to pay attention to what you need. I observed that when need their assistance they seem to have a "wonder look" or their mind is somewhere else and I'm not sure if they are paying attention to me. Casino, private beach.

Condo Rentals - A Much Better Alternative

by oohsooyami about Mirador Del Condado Condominiums

Most people don't think to rent out a condo instead of the conventional hotel/inn/bed&bath, since well, its not conventional- lol. However, as un-common as renting out condos for short stays may sound, it turned out a lot of the condos were all booked up since we booked everything at the last minute, and on top of that, it was a long weekend, maybe IT IS more conventional. Luckily, after extensive research, and refusing to give up on finding cheap airfare and accomodations at the last minute, I was able to find one last studio condo in Condado in the San Juan area (right in the middle of Isla Verde, where the International Airport is, and Old San Juan, the other point of the San Juan region).

San Juan hotel

by MTrav about ihp El Consulado

I stayed here several times while visiting San Juan. It is a smaller hotel, with a convenient location in Condado.

Its close to the beach and plenty of food and nightlife.

Comfortable and quiet, however parking was always a little tricky, as there are not many places to park in this part of town.

This hotel is part of the ihp chain, which has a hotel in Old San Juan, and another one in Auguadilla, across the island. Excellent location, and it has much more local charm than the surrounding hotels.

A place to go and a place not to go!

by wadekorzan about Not: El Canario Yes: Coral Princess Inn

We stayed in Puerto Rico twice, both in Condado Beach. Old San Juan is very pretty but the streets are rolled up at night, so Condado is a great place to be that is safe, convenient, and near the beach.

The first time we stayed at a place called "El Canario by the Sea". It was by the sea, but that's all it had to offer. The staff were not friendly, it was expensive for what it was, and the room was dark and not so clean...so we started searching for another hotel for the next time we would be in Puerto Rico.

That's when we found the wonderful little Coral Princess Inn. It's only a few blocks from the beach, is very well located, the staff was great, it was very clean, and we just loved it! And it was cheaper than El Canario. We would highly recommend he Coral Princess Inn if you're looking for a quality and fairly inexpensive ($130 per night is cheap for Puerto Rico it seems!).

How do I get from the San Juan airport to beach condado? take ferry,
by car?

Thank you

Re: beach condado

by jmsaunders

You can easily take a shuttle bus from the airport at Isla Verde/San Juan Puerto Rico to any of the hotels on Condado Beach. That is what we did in 1996. It probably doesn's cost more than about $15.

Once you are in town, you can take the city buses all over town for $0.25.

Enjoy San Juan!

Well, however you get there - drive carefully! I have been to PR three times in the past year and my boyfriend drove each time. They are CRAZY drivers!!! *lol* Good luck and have fun!

If you want to check out a great restaurant in the Condado area - visit Van Gogh's. It's near the Marriott. DELICIOUS!!!!!!!
